C'mon guys! What's up?

I thought 4 engines over a 6 year period was being down-right responsible....

I was in good hands - you'll see that the A/F R's are all pretty much under 11.0 and Steve Kan was doing the tuning.....

AIT's were a little higher than I would have liked (in the 50+C range) but, hell, I can't wait for those long long cold winter nights here in S. Florida, you know, the ones that get deep down into the 60s. Look out Vipers and Porsche Turbos.... ;-)

All's well that ends well, right?

This is strange. My GT35R has made more power then all the GT40R dynos Ive seen so far.
Even my last motor with low compression made 374 @13 psi that Steve Kan tuned. (ported Motor)
My stock motor made 404 @ 16 psi. What gives?

First, I did expect more than I made on the dyno... But my a/f were all over the place. I will post next week what I do. But this will again be on a stock port motor at 17psi..

Uh, Zoom, I guess you missed Zkeller that posted 457rwhp! I could be wrong but I think the gt35/40 will top out at 20psi making 450hp (which you do not see many doing).. The gt40r will make power well past that. Its just that its new out and no one has pushed it that far..

I agree that if 400 is ones goal then the 35-40 is the way to go. But if you plan to run 25psi and make 500hp then the 40r is a must (over the 35/40)...

Did anyone read about the guy making 808 on the 42r??? I think I am going to copy his IC set up...

Here is the thing. Its not a pissing match. I dont understand why a larger turbo makes less power. You say its not in its efficiency range. While I say. Why does a T-78 make more then both GT turbos at low boost if it hasnt stretched its legs yet either?
Something bothers me about the low #'s im seeing. Ive seen a few GT35R's dynoed and ALL of them made more power at the same boost levels as the Gt40R. Something doesnt seem right.
Unless your saying it is weak till it gets to 20+ psi. But I say.... It should make more power all the way up like a T-78 etc.

I've been watching the section of the forum for years and honestly I haven't any "magic" turbos nor any magic porting. 95% of single turbo owners never push them hard enough to see the benefits of these big wheels (ie 20+ psi). In my opinion, at the 15psi -ish 93 octane level, the difference in the T-61, T-66, T04E, 60-1(aka T04S), GT 35/40, GT 40, T-78, ect is mainly engine health, tuning and whos dyno they were on. So far, the best pump gas numbers that have actually been backed up at the strip have come from: a T-61 (FastRX7man at 126 mph, PTE-63? (JD at 128 mph), KKK something (ErnieT), and the 35/40 (Ihor). My apologies for those I left out, I am sure all of the other turbos are capable of similar numbers if their owners choose to hit the strip. In other words, if you're running pump gas on the average 13BT-REW, it probably doesn't matter a whole lot which single (within reason) you choose, so long as you have a good tuner and a healthy engine. I would tend to choose the one with the most robust/best rebuild options. My opinion of course. Race gas and big boost is probably a different story.....

Your tuner. Try Demetrios K. and you'll see some real power.

Hey Zoom... I am not trying to start any pissing match either... I too am very curious in the numbers that have been coming from the 40r's. I did expect to see higher numbers down low also. I can only guess and hope that above 20 psi they start making better figures.. I will not have my ported motor in for several months so I will not be the one showing the 25+psi dyno sheet, atleast not for some time. I will however post this week my pull at 17psi on stock ports.

My motor is pretty low compression( highest reading was 72psi), once I get my 40r on I will be running 22-25psi. I am using this motor to tune, and have a fresh motor to go in once I get this one tuned. I am having a hell of a time installing it. The holes where the manifold bolted to- stripped out, had to tap them out for some coils to insert and the tap broke off inside one of the holes. So now I have to figure out how to take the tap out. It is about 1/2 inch deep inside the top right hole. I am open to suggestions. As soon as thats taken care of I will be running a good amount of boost...so we will see how the turbo does...

If you guys can wait 6 months, I plan to take my GT40 Standard BB, .94 tan a/r rear, 88mm, 4" turbo back exhaust, race gas, large street ported RE, and standalone... I'm planning to boost somewhere in the ball park of 28-32 psi.
