What's the octane rating in New Jersey? 91 or 93? If 91, I'd play it safe and not run leaner than 11.5 ( I aim for 11.3 with 91 here in AZ) if you want to keep your motor for long. Also, the compressor choke point on a GT35 is just North of 500 HP, so you're getting pretty close to being maxed on that turbo. Still, great numbers.

Does AFR under load typically go down or up when under load on the street, or is it not predictable? I am getting less boost on the street than on the Dyno.

the car was tuned by steve kan at first, it blew up after maybe 3000 miles on 15 PSI, Then it was rebuilt with new housings and the map was tweaked (at distance) by Chuck Westbrook to remove some timing since it seemed to be too aggresive and it was probably the cause of the fresh blown engine. So the map was made to be safe, not for performance.

93 octane in Jersey. I'm gonna give it a workout tomorrow and see what AFRs I'm getting on the street at WOT. I'm pretty sure everything is below 11.8, but we'll see.

That's what Max (previous owner) told me as well. The timing looked great according to Dave, but the AFRs were high 9's to 10 flat at WOT.

Hi guys, this is my old car.

The results are impressing! I'm really happy to see these numbers! I would have liked to keep it but the timing wasnt the best for me.

Happy for you Matt, it's a fantastic car. A real rocket!

BTW : I'm back in a FD

Hey Max! I did clean up a few things with the car since I bought it from you, but nothing much... solid engine and diff mounts, diff brace, removed P.S., replaced the 13 lb spring with a 10lb spring in the wastegate, fresh plugs (your's were very nasty ) and few other things.

So... I took the car out today and set the boost to 14/15 psi and pulled some 2nd and 3rd gear WOT runs. The AFRs never went above 11.3/11.4 all the way to redline. Made it to about 6k in 4th and never saw higher than 11.0. I'm pretty sure the car's tune is just fine. It feels fast as hell, easily the fastest I've been in - passenger was scared shitless as well .

Sounds like my day up here in north jersey too.....I was running around at 19 psi on the highways this afternoon and my FD felt freaking great in this cool weather

We should meet up sometime soon, Max's old FD is clean as hell and I wouldnt mind seeing it again. Also, I think I have a spare stock jack laying around as well.

Wow!

I knew this car had great potential. I'm thinking of making a nice setup on my new one, but probably or 1-2 years depending on the job.

For now it has :

new rebuild (stock)
full exhaust
pfs intercooler
power fc
intake
apex'i avc-r
ACT clutch
Pettit AST
Fluidyne Rad
New rebuilt tranny
etc.

What about a 500R or a GT40R on a nice ported engine

Rich : my ex car is really nice... light and fast rx-7.

Matt : could you send me some pics of my old car? did you take some ?

Nice numbers. This gets me excited for my car when I get done. I have the same kit with a 82mm comp, 74mm turbine. I will not be running a ported engine as you are, but I hope to get numbers close to your numbers.

Hope you can get all the bugs worked out and get better numbers.

You can see you car "in action" at 3:25 in this video I made when the car was still owned by Max. The sound is awesome and we can here it quite well.

Thought you would like to know and or hear it.

Nice #'s, car must be fast as hell Why does your first dyno graph start at around 4k? I'd like to see how the turbo puts out from 2k on up.

That's just when Dave started recording, my other Dyno experiences were similar. The car doesn't make much power at 2k .

Despite the power curve, the turbo is great on the street. I can drive it easy or aggressive and the power feels very controlled until about 6.5k. Then it's just scary fast... Also, the power keeps going; I have to consciously look for redline since the power keeps climbing linearly.

Few people believed the results from this turbo, so yesterday I redyno'd in on a Dynapack.

It made 478 rwhp and 369 ftlbs of torque (SAE corrected) pretty consistently over 3 or 4 4th gear pulls. Boost spiked to about 18 psi though - but AFRs were in the mid 11's and the knock was low. I essentially turned my boost control off and was running off the Tial 44mm wastegate with a 13 lb spring. For some reason, 4th gear pulls on the dyno makes this car over boost at about 7k rpms.

So, between these results and the earlier results on a more optimistic dyno (Dynojet) I would guess this car is putting down a comfortable 450 rwhp at 15 psi. I'll post dyno graphs later.

I was there during the runs and they were legit. I was surprised by how easily the car laid down the power..... credit must be given to the engine builder and tuner.

Congrats man, when can you post the sheet?

Hey rich, my wife and I just had the baby on Thursday , so I haven't had time to get my scanner and new computer working, but I'll post it as soon as I can.

"I'm sure I'm pushing it for pump gas, though . No water or alcohol injection as of now..."

you are making 475 rw or 550 flywheel, actually deduct 10 from both as SAE hp is the norm. anyway so 465/540 on 93 octane pumpgas????

that's 3.4 hp per cubic inch. i don't care what AFR you are running. you will either have warped apex seals or broken apex seals real soon.

i suggest you pedal your car a bit until you have AI.

nice going BTW, i like your turbo. also how about a real dyno sheet w rpm at the bottom done in SAE.

Here is a crappy photograph of the dyno sheet until I can get the scanner working. The red curve had a lose coupler b/w the compressor and IC inlet. Once we tightened that we got the green and blue curves. They are SAE corrected. He let off the gas on the green curve due to hitting 18 psi. The blue curve hit 1.2 bar on the pfc commander.

I run the car on the street at 15-16 psi, for some reason on a dyno I cant keep the boost below 17/18 psi in colder weather (running off a 13 lb wg spring). That's why I inferred the turbo to make around 450 rwhp at 15/16 psi.

Do you think at 15 psi w/ 3mm seals the car is unsafe? It drives great .

The dyno sheets say "Flywheel power"...was it converting for flywheel power or was the actual measurement of the wheel horse power?

wow, very impressive numbers, i am just searching for info on the GT3574 kit from A-spec, and i believe i will order one after reading these post. sorry to bug u, does everything fits from a-spec and what else do i need except for custom IC piping and intake, in order to complete a single swap? and for the tuner mentioned here (Dave, steve and chunk), can i just buy PFC maps from them or would they come up to Canada to have my car tuned?
