I didn't get an map information from Garrett or the distributor who sold me the turbo. The distributor is trying to get the information (still). I guess Garrett may not share much of that information freely.
It sounds like a TS04 to me, but maybe smaller efficiency area or shifted lower.
The Aussies tell me you can run 20psi all day on it reliably (turbo).
A lot suggest a GT42/45 for a 20B application.

I know some basics about turbo stuff, but how is it that Turbo X can make 410hp at 15psi, and Turbo Y can make 430hp at 15psi? Isn't PSI a fixed thing? Or is there something with all the lingo you guys use (A/R, whatever else) that changes things?

CFM is independent of PSi. X turbo produces 100cfm at 10psi and Y turbo produces 125cfm at 10psi. (Random numbers). More air, more fuel, more power. There's also the efficiency factor and air charge temps although the numerical hp differences between turbos at say 15psi would probably be rather small since we're talking about 1-3% efficiency differences.

Why is the GT35/40 picked 3 out of 4 times???? Has there been any real hard numbers on them yet?
Have they put up the big numbers that the T78 has???
I'm confused to why the T-78 is so behind in the pole, I know the T-78 is slower to spool, but everyone I know thinks its the best all around kit for the FD out there. What gives??? Is the GT35/40 kit all that much better?

Its been forever, people said that they would get dynos months ago. I wanna see a dyno with so real boost on it. I am douting that this thing makes power like a t78 cause they poeple are acting. That just my gusse.

T-78 All the Way!!!!!
The T-78 works better for me. My car will see 10% street and 90% track. Lag is no prob when drag racing. At 25-28psi boost.........that's some serious power. But if my car saw more street use I would get the gt kit.

I would like to see some race gas and some bigger boost numbers to see if the GT3540 can keep up with the T-78.

If you compare Ihor's GT3540 to Gordon Monsens T-78 they produce almost identical numbers, 430 and 431 rwhp @ 15 psi. I believe the GT 3540 spools a little quicker thus giving it a better over all hp curve.
I would like to see some race gas and some bigger boost numbers to see if the GT3540 can keep up with the T-78.

I've had my T78 in for about 2 months now and I love it. Though it's laggy compared to the stock twins it more then makes up for it up high. I was considering the Apex RX6 kit and the XS TO4 series before my purchase but I knew I was gonna get bored of them hence the reason for the T78. With the T78 you pretty much have to change your driving style (Gordon mentioned this to me) to keep the revs up. I really didn't like the lag either but it only comes into play from a standing start. On the highway or when I'm already rolling I just downshift and the power is right there. Oh yeah, I haven't used 5th gear since the T78 went in Well only above 130

I should have a T78 installed in about a month so it'll be interesting to see the differences I experience going from a 340hp twin sequential to a T78 setup. I'm taking the basic kit and reworking it a bit for better reliability as per Gordon's advice.
As is, the kit seems to have an HKS manifold (according to the person who installed it) and uses a one piece downpipe/midpipe which does not require the modification of the LIM for clearance (thank god!). I'll probably have them separated and ceramic coated, internally only, along with the outside of the turbine housing.
A few other things I'll be doing, all braided lines to and from the turbo, a heat shield (anybody know of a pre-made heat shield that'll work with the T78?) and the installation of a Borla XR1 in the midpipe. Gordon, if you have a pic of your heat shield (I'm assuming you have one), I wouldn't mind a pic or two. The midpipe is mild steel (I believe) and the Borla is stainless. I had thought the materials difference would preclude the ability to weld the two together, but I heard differently last night. I'll also need some sort of a BOV as well which will probably be mounted either on the GReddy elbow or on the IC to elbow piping, as close to the TB as possible. Oh, how about those turbine "blankets" made by Thermotec (I believe) that simply surround the hot side of the turbo? Good? Bad?

"This all depends on if you want alot of low end punch. To me the difference is you need to be in the right gear all the time with the T-78. You cant be on the highway cruising in 5th gear and expect to make much power."
I would like to see 22 lbs and some race fuel also. Two of us and maybe up to 4 of us are going to go single turbo. We have decided (well I have and they will go with what I do) to go with one of the following:
1) Gt 3540
2) T-78
3) KKK stage 2
4) BB HKS kis (t-51)
5) gt 42 kit from Magnus..
I am leaning towards 1,2 or 4. I would like to purchase from the RX7 Store as I and the people I have refered have had good service....in my case exceptional.
