going single turbo comparison

so i turned my last motor into a grenade and will be in the process of a rebuild and want to go single. im going to do a large streetport and looking to get ne weres from 380 to 425 to the wheels reliably. im stuck on garret turbos. my buddy runs a gt35r at 15lbs with a half bridge and makes 425, fully spools around 4k with his setup. i like his turbo but would like to know if the gt40r or the gt4088r would be entirely diff. i want his setup but want to be diff. would the 40 series lag alot more than a 35? i like were it fully boost around the 4k mark. all help would be great.

I have a GT4088 non-ball bearing with a 1.06 hot side and i love it. It makes 10psi before 4K on a large street port motor. The guys at the RX7 Store made over 500 whp on a very similar setup and the same turbo at 19psi on pump gas and meth inj.
