Going to Gotham for Rebuild & Single install...Missing Anything?

Ok, so I finally have an appointment @ Gotham to get a rebuild and install my single kit.

So here's the breakdown....You can see my current mods HERE.

What i'm Sure i'm Getting:
- Rebuild option: Stage 2 porting (what do you think?)
- BOV (Greddy type R? or Tial?)
- Stainless OMP lines
- Lightweight Flywheel
- FPR
- Block Off Plates
- Eurathane (sp) Engine Mounts
- Relocate Fuel Filter
- ?
- ?
- ?

What I'm bringing there:
- Single Kit: GT35/40 with Manifold, Dp, Turbosmart 45mm WG
- Primary & Secondary Fuel Rails
- 750cc Pri & 1600cc Sec
- Supra Fuel Pump
- Garfinkle Eng. Torq Brace
- Koyo Radiator

What I think I will need:
- Ignition Amp (can i get by for now without one or do I have to get it?)
- Some sort of air filter for the turbo (recommend?)
- ?
- ?

What I would like to get while car's there:
- Pully Set
- ?
- ?

Will head down first week in April.. Can't wait

Don't you already have an air filter on your turbo (it's in the pics and on your mods list)

Ask Steve what you need. If he tells you you need it, it's not to get you to spend your money, you need it. We dynoed a car he street tuned last week. No one believed the car was street tuned. That A/F curve was flatter than Texas.

hey apnea-
i just got done doing pretty much the same thing. you're gonna love it.
a couple of notes:
our porting should be about the same- mines from pineapple (wish it was from gotham and steve, paranoid about it going out) but a stage 2 i think is perfect for the 35/40.
- i have the tial bov, works great, sounds awesome, not loud and whistlely (sp). others like em loud though, so whatever you choose should work well.
-urethane mounts transfer a little more vibration, but mine has seemed to settle down a bit though.
-i have the hks ignition. not sure if you're gonna need it, but it doesn't hurt to have it just in case.
-i use a k&n filter. we made a bracket for it and just bolted it down.
-i think its a good time to get the pulley kit-no more airpump
-other things i would recommend: a fuel pressure gauge(can be easily added to the fpr like $10)
wideband (of course)
and the datalogit

question: do you have the new manifold from aspec or the old one?

you'll have permagrin every time you take it out of the garage, i still do 6 months later and i'm only tuned to .8bar for now
new mani and dp are going on in 2 weeks and we're turning up the boost!!!

good luck with it all

Hi Paximus,
I got this kit from Lane_change here on the forum. Not sure why he didn't install it...Af for where it's from, it's a custom jobbie...Here's what Lane_change had to say about it...

"I got that GT35/40 Kit from Ivan at RPM in Australia. It was quite the ordeal trying to get it made. It is one of very few made with a cast mani...I guess Ivan and Tim down there (they started that whole GT35/40 thing) were having problems with SS mani's cracking on high boost pulls...so you have the absolute first cast mani made for the FD.

He is curious how it does as well, he emailed me not to long ago to see how my dyno went...then I had to break the bad news to him.

But now you know"
Here's a photo of it...Nice thing is the mani and dp are already cermaic coated.

Oh, about the FP gauge, I have the defi link series and planning on getting the dual speaker pod and running the oil pressure and fuel pressure in those. But probably wouldn't be bad to have another gauge there too.

Another thing I was thinking of...The Fuel Pulsation Dampener.....Does that get replaced with the reman or will I have to request that?

hrmm.... here's a pic of mine. they look pretty similar. doesn't cast mean no welds? or am i just crazy?

that is my old one on my motor (still on the car), and my new one...let me see if i have a pic of the new one somewhere.......

just wondering cause the new one is so sweet. you can see the exhaust ports through the turbo flange!!

not sure about the fpdampener...sorry
the link series is awesome, just wish it was amber instead of green/white. i'm using the defi d-gauges to keep the same color scheme (at least the best i can, my wb, commander, and avc-r are green and blue...

the onr I have more resembles the one you have in the top pic....I don't know about the no welds on a cast manifold...I just looked at this manifold and you can only see the forward exhaust port...Your new one does look really sweet.

Apnea just so you are aware that manifold is not cast, it is made from mild pipe, the reason they were having manifolds crack was the way they were put together so they started going with mild/coated. You should be fine, unless you really try to turn the boost high, theirs started cracking at 22+ lbs.

Cool, I doubt I will be going that high...Gonna tune for 1 bar for now. and then later crank it up a bit.

David,
Ill need a ride in that beast when your pushing 1 bar on the GT35/40!

One big upgrade you'll need is some 'Big Meats' in tha back.

Ill probably see you down at Gotham when Im heading out with my rebuild.

Dude, I am taking the car down firday the April 2nd. May just drive to OKC Thursday night and then drive down friday morning. Will fly back to Tulsa....I actually am planning to get wheels by mid summer...I have been searcing the forum for info on the widest wheels I can slap on the stockers to get by till I get some wider wheels/tires. Anyone recommend?

Thanks,
David

P.S. Eric, when you are going down let me know and I will drive up to OKC and go with you...I can go look at the progress on the car while you pick up the engine.

so finally I am going down to gotham tomorrow...catch is...I hope I will make it. I went out over the weekend for a final joy ride before the engine rebuild. Well, I took it out and left the boost on 15psi and came home to this Still has good vacuum at -16 inhg but seals are toast for sure. I will just take lots of coolant with me, have a wrecker service number handy and start trucking the 4 hour trip to Gotham.

Steve will match the ports to the turbo well. The other thing you might want to think about is port matched manifolds (Steve loves it when you ask for that). It's about $500.00 extra, but you will definatly see a difference in power and fow. While your there you may want to pick up a differential brace too since you'll be making a little more power then before
I just got my engine back from Steve a few weeks ago. Finally got around to putting it back in lastnight
