Getting ready to dyno tune again...

Hey everybody, i'm getting ready to dyno tune my car in about 2 weeks at XS engineering. For those of you who don't know, the last time my car was on the dyno was on early august. Because I had stock ignition, stock wires, stock spark plugs, the car misfired, and the most that they could tune it at was 10psi. Since then I got HKS iridium plugs, magnecore wires, and a B&M newvolt so I'm ready to go again. My mods include:
RX6 turbo
racing beat catback
mp
PFS Racing Intercooler
power fc
1300 cc secondaries
bosch intank fuel pump
greddy pulleys
spark plugs/wires/b&m
rebuilt motor with stock port (new rotors, housings, seals, etc.) that's only 4000 miles old

how much boost do you guys think i should have XS tune the car for on 91 octane? I've heard some forum members have gone up to 15psi on pump gas or even higher, but I was wondering what's a SAFE amount. Any input would be appreciated

what i have heard from erik @xs is 17lb max with 91 octane. I wouldn't push it though. i think 15lb is more then enough with your combo. how big is your bosch pump? are they the same one hks sell for 500 bucks? i just pick up the hks iridium plugs also, damn thing is 25 bucks each it better made some different, i'll be pissed lol

17 psi seems kinda high...even 15psi does too, but i guess xs knows more than me since they've done this many times.

I have the Bosh pump, the same one that M2 sells on their website. I totally feel you on the HKS plugs they are expensive. They are made from Denso though, and I think you can get them cheaper if you just get it through Denso.

I run a 50/50 mix of 91, and 100 for 15psi, I think 17 is pushing it.If eveything is running perfect I'm sure you can do it until... I'd hate to see somone pop their motor on bad gas. I know lots of guys run more, but I also know I will never pop my motor for a lack of octane. Carl

What octane has the gas in USA from regular gas pumps?

In Sweden we have, 95, 96 and 98 octane from regular pumps.

Best Regards

17 is too high. At most I was thinking of just doing 15psi on 91. or if anyhting only 13psi. I'm more interested in engine longivity rather than max power. I think 350rwhp is good enough for the street

anytime your tuneing a car you should use 118 octane fuel..... just in case the tuner makes a mistake, your motor wont blow! its cheap insurance....

yeah but then the car will be tuned for 118 octane. and if you use different or lower octane levels, the car will run lean and then the motor will blow

i would tune for 15 psi. Many people run 91 octane at 15 psi safely. If you tune for 13 you will regret it since your loosing power and the RX6 would perform alot better at 15.

I think 15psi would be fine on 91 octane. Fortunately we have Sunoco 94 here in Ohio (and no e-check, damn sometimes I do LOVE Ohio), anyways, I've been running 17psi daily with my single on 94, no problems...I think even 18psi would be fine as long as it's cool outside, ie < 60F.

The gas in Sweden is probably rated in Research Octane only. So 95,96,98 is around 90,91,93 AKI octane.
