To gasket or not to gasket.........

That is the question!!!

Installing 50mm hks wastgate on manifold with 50mm flange. When I use the gasket I get air blowing passed the valve. When I bolt it up without the gasket I get a nice flat seal and no air blowing passed. Anybody now if there are any negatives to running without the gasket? Is there a special way to install the gasket so it doesn't leak. Positive input appreciated, I need some answers.

Thanks.

Its the one that I was given by the person I bought it from. I will order a new one and try it out both ways I guess.
