Finding the Right turbo quesitons
Hey fellas,
Im pretty sure i wanted to upgrade to a T04S with a 1.00 a/r to be in that 375-420 rwhp range in 16-20 psi.
But just wnated to know what you guys thought about the T04R... would that put in a the 400 - 475 on 16-20 psi? If i wanted to go up that high that is?
just a ball park.
Cause i figured with all the new cars coming out these days with 300-500 hp stock from factory, id need the edge on to not only keep up but to be able to walk on them so fast it looks like i broke into a run! Im sure eveyrone would like to be able to do the same on all the new cars out there. especially the ones with a driver that has a huge ego.
Supporting mods:
Street Port
Power FC
Crane Hi-6 Ignition
Magnecore wires
Walbro Fuel Pump
Sard Fuel Pressure Regulator
1600cc secondary injectors
FMIC
Any suggestions on spark plugs? or anythign else? I have alot more stuff i just didnt list it all.

Check out the thread that I posted a few weeks ago...
https://www.rx7club.com/single-turbo-rx-7s-23/searching-months-457534/
Might not answer all your questions but I had searched for months 4 to be exact but with out actually being able to take a ride in different cars that had the turbo I was having a hard time choosing. When it come down to it people said the t04r was too large. I wanted to overshoot a little since I wanted to create high hp on lower boost and forum members always say they wished they had gone bigger.
I think that I am decided on the gt40.
Good luck.

Have you given any thought of the D-R Autosports AF61. They had a customer just switch from a gt40 to the af61.. the customer says the AF hits much harder and quicker than the gt40. anyway, just a thought? i think they sell for only $750.00.

Ya i heard good things about those turbos. 750? really. wow maybe i should just go straight to that. seems to be the best price even over the t04s.
I know its at the flywheel
but with some boltons they could make that at the wheels. I know there will ALWAYS be faster cars. But eh, the 7 will never lose!

Alright another question. I have 3" piping straight thru right now. and if i get the AF61 its a 4" off the back? how would i make my 3" dp work with that turbo. I really wouldnt want to replace the whole DP since i did spend 300 getting the whole thing custom welded. Would it work to have the 4" go down to a 3" right off the back of the turbo?

Sorry i have not replied very soon, just been so busy for only 2 people here. Try maybe to e-mail d-rinc@hotmail.com for a quicker respone. Anyway, to the question; You will only need to cut off your 3" flange at the turbo and have the end expanded to 3.5"... wich, is a simple job for any muffler shop. Get your order in before oct 1st.. i will be raising the price to $850 after then. thanks Ron.

how does that turbo stand up against the master power T-70 as far as specs and power band?
Does the inlet have alot to do with the amount of airflow that the turbo can pull in, or is that determined by the mm of the compressor wheel?
I have a FC and i need a turbo baaaad! T-70, gt-35, or the af61?

so is the AF61 an all out drag/highway turbo. Has anyone used it on the track or is it too big? When i get good at drifting on my FC, i would like to be able to take out the FD and get a few pictures and video of it drifting just to have, maybe i could run it at a lower boost maybe 14-15 psi for that? and turn it up to 18-19 for the highway?
Do you guys think that will work. Or should i go for a t04s or t04r afterall?
