It's REALLY easy to set up with an external wastegate, but most people can't grasp how to plumb an external wastegate anyhow...
NO is vented to atmosphere - move the nipple from NO to NC.
Run a line from your boost reference at the compressor outlet to the bottom nipple of the external wastegate. Put a "T" in this line, and run the hose from the T to the NC nipple on the AVC-R solenoid.
Run a line from the top nipple of the wastegate to the COM nipple on the AVC-R solenoid.
Done.
Setting up an external wastegate like this is the right way to do it - you can also run it like an internal wastegate and ignore the top nipple on the external wastegate, but at that point you're throwing away a lot of the control you get with an external. With the wastegate set up like this, you can introduce pressure both above and below the diaphragm, giving very fine control over how the wastegate's valve reacts.
It's all in the manual for the AVC-R - pages 44 through 46. You can download the manual from Apexi's website if you don't have it.
