You are welcome.

Exedy hyper cluctches are great but not too many people buy them due to the higher prices. I am pretty sure you will like it a lot. I am planning on putting on the triple plate when I do the 3 rotor conversion.

I tried to keep them in stock at all times. I have Hiper single, twin, and triple in stock but it's hard to sell them.

Thanks Howard. I love to hear as many opinions as I can before I buy something. Even though some have told me they love it, I always enjoy hearing even more people say that they like the clutch.

I am going to put a new clutch in my Road race car, I have an ACT Extreme with an FD disc in my FC with the old RB light flywheel. It works fine, but I do not think it will like the TQ, and HP I plan on throwing at it. any one familiar with this twin plate? http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/HPIAB2/category17_1.htm

I certainly understand the appearance of being expensive keeping people from buying the Hyper Single, but it really costs about the same as a light flywheel + OEM-style clutch. I've got a Hyper SIngle, too, but I'm still finishing the latest build-up and haven't had a chance to drive it yet.

John,
Clutch is going directly to N-Tech in Winterhaven...I'll be up there next Monday having it installed.

If anyone is interested, I'll have my 9.5lb. lightweight flywheel for sale. I have a brand new liner (the one advantage to going with something other than an exedy) for it as well . Thinking $325 plus shipping for the flywheel and new friction surface which is $150 on it's own from SR Motorsports.

Michele,
I have the Exedy Triple disc and it feels almost stock! Incredible setup!! It'll hold anything you can throw at it.

Is there a break-in proceedure for the Exedy's? Anything special Ernie? Wish I had the funds for the triple. Heck, I'd be satisfied with the Hyper carbon single

Exedy recommends a 500mile break in to let everything seat correctly. I imagine it didn't need one at all, but for the $1400 for the clutch and flywheel, it was better to be on the side of caution.

I'm assuming that was a sale? If you look at both stores now, they're in the mid $1400 to $1500 range for a twin disk and the triple is $1700 (so I stand corrected, I've now seen it for under $2K!). Chuck has the twin disk on sale for $1300 and I ALMOST pulled the trigger on it but I'm pinching pennies at the moment.

Anyone have anything to say about the SPEC? Here is some info I recieved:

I had a race ported single turbo 93 for several years. It made 487 to the
wheels and was a really great car. I ran a st3 in it- mostly road race.
My recommendation is the new St3+, pn SZ473F. This unit is superior to any
Exedy street/strip unit. It includes our high clamp pressure plate and full
faced carbon semimetallic sprung hub disc. This unit has a great pedal
feel, offers lightning quick shifts and a nice engagement for low speed
street driving in traffic. It's not an inexpensive kit, but it offers race
performance in s street package and will wear very well. $599 list.

First question should be what exactly is "carbon" semi-metallic? Never heard of it and it sounds more like a marketing gimick than an actual, bonafied product. Honestly, I had someone mention that Spec stuff was not of the highest quality. Considering all Spec/ACT/RPS clutch plates/disks are Exedy products, that's a pretty big statement on their part. I'm really starting to like my Exedy, especially over the ACT. I believe the ACT has been slipping for quite some time, like before I put in the GT40. The engineering and design of the exedy (and the quality) is second to none.

One other thing I would add is that the pressure plate on the Exedy is forged aluminum and not stamped steel. Won't flex and it's engineered as a performance piece down to the last nut and bolt. The pressure plates everyone else uses are Exedy "regular" stamped steel units that are re-engineered to their specs. But the basic components of the lesser Exedy pressure plate (versus that of the Hyper Pro pressure plates) is still there. Also the pressure plate features cooling vanes which force air to circulate and keep the clutch cooler. The weight is identical. I weighed both but I have a feeling the weight on the exedy pro is closer to the rotational center versus the standard stamped-type pressure plates. I've noticed no discernable difference in rev ability. I have noticed I'm in need of better tires. The clutch transfers all the power to the tires, something my old ACT didn't.

Both Exedy and ACT had a price increase recently so everything is higher now than before

i have 2200 miles on my exedy hyper single and it is every bit as good as i hoped it would be... close to OEM pedal pressure, slips and locks up.

i have had it out of the car 3 times this summer and it looks excellent wearwise.

since it holds 600 ft pounds of torque according to the head Exedy tech guy i didn't consider a twin plate. of course it you are making over 600 ft pounds you might just need it.

for around 1K, considering you get a trick chrome moly flywheel along w the pressure plate and disc it's a no brainer.

i have posted extensively earlier this year as to the tech details so do a search for "Exedy Hyper Single" if you wish more info.
