i run the exedy hyper single (8500 miles) and love it. that's a great price for a fabulous flywheel (chrome moly) PP and Disc. BTW, my cerametallic disc looks like it has hardly been out of the box and is going back in...

Howard, what kind of hp levels are you running? I'm curious as to what kind of power the hyper single will handle. And what is the engagement like? I've driven a twin disc, but never the hyper single. Any and all info is appreciated.

according to a tech sheet from exedy....

hyper single sprung cerametallic (PN ZH01SD) is good for 400 ft pounds road racing, 320 ft pounds drag racing at the flywheel.

twin sprung cerametallic (PN ZM022SD) is good for 600 and 480.

Kevin Fujiyoka, head tech guy, says these #s are a bit conservative. i had no slip last year w the single but was only running 13-14 psi, making about 400 rwhp and no drag racing. i will be turning up the boost this year and will find out what the limits of the single are. i am escrowing funds for the double. i will go with the cerametallic rather than the carbon as i like the amount of slip w cerametallic and i don't want to have to warm up my clutch as you do w carbon.

the carbon single (no springs) is rated at 310/245 and the double 565/450. (flywheel #s)

We have had great success running both on numerous cars. All of them putting out mid 400's and up to the wheels. They are very nice clutches. The twin will make a little more noise than your used to but it is still a nice setup.

Sean, what's the most stress you have put on a Hyper Single before it failed or started to slip? I'm worried that it won't be enough clutch for my 500R setup. (When I finally buy it that is. )

We see about 330 to 390ft /lbs depending. This is on 35R and 500R setups. We recommend the twin on 500R's if it going to be a hard driven street strip car. It gives you some room to play with, that way your not right up to the limit of the clutch When doing your stoplight to stoplight thing

Absolutely love the twinplate I have. It's great for street use and has no problem holding the power the 500R is making.

That's what I was afraid of. I had budgeted for the hyper single, but I agree with Sean on this one and I don't want to be up near the high limit of what that clutch can handle. Oh well, looks like it's time to save up some more money.

That's a very good shipped price! I have my twin installed but never used. I wish I would have been able to get the d-core instead but if the noise bothers me enough I will sell at a loss and switch.

the hyper single clutches suck IMO. if you have stock power then fine but anything above 300whp from what i've seen locally does not hold with this clutch. I run a twin disk in my car and it holds great after alot of abuse. off the line the clutch will chatter a bit if you dont rev up to at least 2k rpm and also mine does make a fair amount of noise when the clutch is not engaged. i guess thats what they are fixing in the d-core series.
