Yup! There is a high flow 100 cell 3" cat on the car right now. It is so quiet you wouldnt know it is running! I am gonna try to run it without the cat next week to see if it is still quiet enough. I'm getting old.

Do you have the brand? If it works for you, it will work for me on my merely 400hp setup!
Its been a long time since I bought the CAT so I dont remember but I am sure it is similar to the one from Vibrant |

Could you link me information on the seals you used here? This is exactly where I'm stopped at with my build because I couldn't find quality stuff like this to trust against a $1850 intercooler core.
Sorry I dont remember. It has been too long. |
^It looks like pinchweld. We can get it here in a myriad of sizes and profiles here so I imagine in the states there would be even more .

Would you mind explaining how that plenum design works and what it does for the power curve ?
|
The additional volume and larger trumpet ends should help it maintain VE at high revs.
|
It is my understanding that plenum volume helps with driveability/low rpm power and hurts high rpm power because it introduces more pumping losses.
Mazda worked hard to reduce the plenum volume on the FD for this reason. Likewise Formula SAE cars have since come up with the "inline plenum" like Mazda did on the FD where the intake looks like typical shorty 4-1 header and the plenum is inline in the collector area to cut down on pumping losses. That said, single blade throttle bodies and their associated single entry plenums have less surface area exposed to flow compared to stock triple throttle plates and dual entry intake and therefore less aerodynamic drag which helps with big intake flow #s. The shorter intake runners shift peak power up in the rpm range. A short runner 4150 style manifold and the 4150 to single blade throttle body like the Projay set-up should have all the advantages for power (on paper anyways). It should also have some serious disadvantages to driveability like any single big throttle body intake... More than one way to skin a cat and more than one way to tune that skinned cat to make it work well. |
I kinda feel like these photos need to be flagged NSFW due to porn... Just sayin' :suspect:
Looks awesome!!! :awesome: |

For those who havent seen the Hoonigan video yet.

Love it, the car is definitely well thought out and well executed.
Did those Moran injectors ever give you any trouble? |

Did those Moran injectors ever give you any trouble? We only got to 60% duty cycle on both the id2000 and the 550lb injectors so we have a lot left as far injector goes but the turbo was maxed out as far as shaft speed goes. |
