custom manifold ?

ok basically heres the story, my car is at my friends shop in cleveland for winter, going single he's a very good fabricator, has started making turbo kits for evo's and 3000gt's etc so the plan was to supply him the turbo and have him make the manifold and all the piping and be done with it.

was just talking to a fellow fd owner and he was telling me how if the shop hadn't had any experience working on rotaries, that i should just buy a kit from somwhere, cause " see the difference between rotary and piston is...with pistons exhaust just gets pushed up and out.. with rotary you have a circular type of motion that you dont want to disrupt, and you want that movement to continue to the turbo for your advantage".

is he right? he's never gone this far into a rotary, he usualy works on mitsu's/nissans, but i've seen the guy at the shop do some pretty amazing things with a welder, so i had total faith in him in letting him do the work. would i be better off buying a manifold instead of having him make me one?

for what its worth, i want to go with either a gt40r or a t04r

well the least you want to do is take pictures, or maybe get someone's old cracked manifold so he can see the stresses, and or how the design is different....

What's nice about rotaries, is you only have 2 big pushes of air, instead of 6/8/10/12 and
you get them close together, so you don't need to gather them through piping and loose heat and pressure before going to the turbo...

I wouldn't worry about it, figure out what the runner length should be for your application (ask around) and make smooth transitions, that's about it when it comes to flow albeit very simplified.
