costum downpipe
I just got a tr51 kia turbo with everything but a downpipe. I am going to make my own. Do you guys think that 2 u bend one straight and one piece of flex would be enough to do this. Does anyone know were I can get both fittings to go on the downpipe. The v-band and the stock type to mount to the midpipe. Would it be better to go with 4" then reduce to 3" or just 3" all the way?

On that size of turbo I would go 4" all the way. You will probably need to use a bender, I don't think just buying bends, cutting and welding will be able to fit the exhaust good, but its possible since I haven't tired it on a 3rd gen. I just know it was a pain on the last car I did a custom exhaust like that and the ride height was high and the turbo mounted on the back of the motor so room and bends wasn't very much of an issue.

on my fc i just bought one 4 inch u bend and about 5 foot of 4 inch pipe off the internet to make the downpipe and section all the way to the y pipe. the y pipe i am having custom made local, a 4 inch y. i bought two 3 inch u bends and 10 feet of 3 inch pipe and three 3 to 4 inch transitions all off of the internet and i am curently making my own system with a cut off saw and a mig welder. one transition is directly off the turbo to 4 inchs then i got one 4 inch pipe all the wway back to a 4 inch y. i got the other two transitions on the y pipe to bring it form 2x4inch to 2x3inch. then i got two 3 inch pipes to my mufflers.
im not sure how difficult or easy a 3rd gen will be but you might wanna get two 4 nch u bends just to be safe. any more questions pm me.
