compressor surge= blown seals? :(
compressor surge= blown seals? :(
so i believe the oil seals in my turbo are blown... (s5 hybrid turbonetics 60-1 compressor)
it was smoking HEAVILY last night every other stop i came to...
the motor wasnt overheating, so i dont think it is coolant seals in the motor...
the turbo was boosting fine up to 9psi for 2-3 weeks since ive had it on the road...a little laggy, but that probably has nothing to do with this..
for the 2-3 weeks that i was using it, i had my bov loosened almost all the way, and it still had compressor surge... could this be the problem why the oil seals blew?
any input will be helpful..
thanks,Dan.

ummmmm I don't know man. Was it not doing this before? Do you have some sort of oil restrictor in your system and is your crank case ventalation ok? There are alot of things that make hybrid turbo setups smoke and I would check everything else out first before trying to get your turbo rebuilt.
Think about it though. If it was your increased oil-pressure, or if the oil-pressure was too much--it would've been doing it all the time. Since yours just started doing it, it's probably the oil-seals.
yeah thats why I asked it if it was doing it before. I'm sure it wasn't since he posted it as a problem now and not whe he got it. He sure is trying to sell this turbo though as a good turbo so either he is trying to rip someone off or really it has no problems.
