Compression Test And How Much Rwhp Can Make The Apexi Rx-6 Single Turbo?
Im looking for a Rx-7 single turbo and I found one with a Apexi RX-6 single, can anyone tell me this turbo how much hp is good for???
Also if the rotors in the compression test is read the following is good or not:
Front rotor 8.5 - 8.5 - 8.3
Rear rotor 8.2 - 8.5 - 8.4
Thanks your comments.

Racing Rotary Since 1983

turbo:
the RX6 came in a number of iterations.
all use the same turbine wheel. there are 7 turbine housing options. they are stamped on the rearward face of the casting. look for P27. if the turbo doesn't have the P27 on it you don't want it on the rotary. (other options are P and a lower than 27 number).
there are 4 cold side wheels. they output air to make between 420 and 575 piston hp at the flywheel. to convert to rotary hp divide by 1.3 and multiply by .85 to get rwhp. bottom line on the range for the rotary is between 275 and 375 at the wheels.
the details:
TCW10
78 MM X 54 MM
19-26 psi
420 piston flywheel-- 275 rotary rer wheel
TCW15
78 X 59
14.5 - 22 psi
475 piston FW-- 310 rotary rear wheel
TCW76
82 X 56
25-32 psi
495 ---- 323 rotary
TCW 77
82 X 61
30.5-38
575--- 376 rotary
you will need to measure the cold wheel and check the hot housing...
the RX6 is a compact efficient turbo for what it is. ball bearing and not water cooled. i have a friend that has beaten on his for a number of years and it is still in good shape. depending on your hp objectives it could be a good turbo.
all specs above come from Apexi courtesy of a Dsport magazine article.
the compression looks fine in the motor.

Apex'i offered two different kits for FD.
RX6a - TCW76/P27
RX6b - TCW77/P27, turbo sits lower to keep airpump
These kits are capable of 380-400 rwhp@15psi.
If you're looking for big hp, this is not the turbo.

Ghost Ride the Whip
On a street ported motor with 91 octane gas at 1kg of boost I made 380rwhp with a conservative tune. I've had this turbo for over 5 years now and it still runs strong

Did you run with 112octane or VP gas with higher boost? How is the spool of this turbo??
