The truth lies more in between these two extremes... fuel clings to the metal sides when injected, and not all of it burns away during combustion.

Therfore the danger of fuel cut, with the plug still fireing... as well as that "Pure" Oxygen is combustable without fuel...

If the Plug is no longer fireing, the fact that you're compressing hot air (depending on IC), and making it even hotter, can cause the fuel to ignite by-itself.. (detonation)

I'm just not sure that the question of sparc or fuel cut is as clear cut as some people make it seem.

chemistry will tell us that not enough fuel will not combust, thus making it impossible to detonate. A fuel cut will not supply sufficient fuel for the air mixed in to detonate the spark unless your injectors are leaking like a garden hose.

Just a re-cap, since this discussion on "fuel cut = bad" is usually very generalized.

I think our collective experience and generalization that fuel cut = "bad" is in a stock car, at least that is the context that I always hear it discussed in.

Fuel cut in a stock car is due to overboosting, which usually would mean more than anticipated factory boost levels = inadequate fuelling (lean under boost) = why fuel cut -> blown motor.

The fuel cut itself isn't the problem, it is the improper fuel mixture...

most launch controls (secondary rev limits) use fuel cut. It is perfectly safe IMO because its not leaning out your mixture by injecting less fuel, Its stopping the mixture by injecting NO fuel. So what you end up with is the car running on air... no risks their,

I had my throttle stick closed once in my 7 and it hit my fuel cut revlimiter at 8500rpms until i got it shut off. No damage done (this was freereving though and not boosted high)
