Question changing exhausts peter farrel to dual N1

what you guess think? bad good idea? I feel like a change and like the look of the N1 duals. Just worried about restriction. Anyone have any feed back? Something i need to worry about soo much? I know the Peter Farrel breaths very well and pretty much has no restriction since it's straight through but the Dual N1's split into 2. what you think

I used to have it on my car. It is loud (I used to set off car alarms on both sides of the street at wot in 2nd gear), but the biggest complaint I had with it is it sounds very cheap.

I would take a look at the Greddy Evo exhaust http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/fdexhaust.html#Catbacks. It is basically the same as the Power Extreme, but with the canister moved up out of sight. When I switched from the N1 D to the PE, boost went down about 1/5th a psi at the same duty cycle setting -not a big deal. The resonator in the PE had a smaller ID than what is used in the Evo, so the Evo probably has as little or less back pressure than the N1 does. The diameter of the PE and EVO piping is very large, it has a nice deep menacing tone, it is a straight through design, and the fit and finish is nicer than the Apexi.

-My .02 cents . . . . . .

Im not worried about it being too loud The peter farrel is pretty loud but has a deep tone to it. Just thought a chnage of look would be nice but dont wanna suffer too much performance.

how does the Dual N1 sound?

what about this one
http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/GReddyFDRacingExhaust.html

oh ya i have not cats. and no resonators so which ever on ei pick is gonna be loud regardless

It just depends on your own taste. When on the dyno last time, Ralph commented that he thought the car sounded awesome. I too realy like it. BTW, I'm running a 3.5" dp and mid pipe, with a n1 dual tip. When I'm in town, I run the silencers, but at the track and around the country side, I love to drive it uncorked. But, it is loud, and I don't daily drive the car. CJ

N1 dual is one of the worst sounding exhausts you can buy in my opinion.

Agreed. The Blitz and Apexi don't sound much better. I would stick with Greddy. Seems to be the least raspy. imo....

The Greddy is too. That is determined mainly by diameter.

not looking at the tone and I'm not sure how the flow of the PF compares to the apexi n1 single, but apexi claims the n1 duel has more flow than the n1 single due to the double tips. I guess that could be true but hard to say as the split pipes that come off the main to the duel tips are pretty small compared to the rest of the piping. I guess if the combined diameter of the two smaller pipes >= the 3" or 31/2" then I could see where the flow would be greater because you have two large cans to flow through rather than just one. I have the n1 duel and it is loud, I can't comment really on it being a worse sound as I have not tried the other exhausts mentioned.

The PFS is a nice exhaust... very underrated IMO. Flows well, made well, sounds nice. 18 lbs.

N1 dual is the worst sounding catback I have ever heard on an Rx7, Blitz is very loud but sounds a little better...cost is attractive, PF is very loud like the Blitz, I love the Apexi GT with the REVO/ATS option as it quiets down the idle and cruise to tolerable levels...cheap used then add an ATS, RB is very nice and relatively quiet/drone free but it's not for big power imho, Greddy is nice too like the RB, so many options.

I just switch out my PFS this weekend and went with the Greddy RP catback and midpipe. One word ...wow ! Flow is so much better and the spool up was improved. I was going to pass on this catback due to the price but its worth every penny. Sounds fantastic ( best on any FD I have heard ) Check out how good the fit is also.
