can't get the rx6 heat shield back on

took the heat shield off to replace a bad 02 sensor, now I can't get it back on. Limited space plus those damn keyed clamps = garaged rx7. Anyone have any tips? I thought about using some silicone to hold them in place until I could get a bolt through. While on the subject, my o2 sensor went after only 3K miles. Bosch universal type. What gives???

I am not sure what heat shield you are having trouble with. Turbine housing? Some other shield?

My O2 sensor reads bad with the RX6, too (always lean, though I know the car is running rich). I put a new one in and it does the exact same thing. I think it is too hot in that position or something, which throws the reading off. I guess I should check if it can read rich during warm-up and just wacks out when it gets hot. I am not sure if that is it or not.

If you are having trouble with the heat shield that is mounted over the turbine and mounted with the retaining clamp washers-----all I can say is good luck. It can be done but it is majorly time consuming and I wound up using a $12.00 crow's foot wrench (12mm) on a 1/4" drive ratchet to get bolts secured.

I have never had any trouble with the stock narrow band O2 sensor (Mazda OEM) giving weird readings on my Autometer pro-comp. She goes lean for an instant under hard acceleration, then to rich (2 bars) and stays just about there until I lift- then of course she goes off scale lean (fuel cut). This is consistent with my PFC settings.

On the other hand, so far, my OZ DIY wide band gives some mighty weird readings, but that is because I haven't worked out alll the kinks yet.

yeah that is exactly what I am talking about-still haven't gone out to tackle it. I also have to take apart my TIAL BOV to replace the spring. Anyone else done this?

Finally got the thing back on. Stripped one of the three bolts. Bolt on the back side was loose tightened it and stripped it too. Crap. How do you fix a stripped bolt? Drove it and it seems ok, but this is like the 3rd time the bolts have worked themselves loose. Any ideas?
