Can the ATF trick cause any bad Side effects???!!!!!

Can the ATF trick cause any bad Side effects???!!!!!

i was driving my car, and it just doesnt seem to have the ***** it should anymore. So i thought im most likely loosing some compression. I would like to try the ATF trick, but am scared because i dont know if it can cause anything to go wrong!??

Ben- Instead of blindly assuming you have lost compression, why not spend a few $ and have a compression check done first to try to diagnose the problem. One of the things that pisses people off is mechanics just randomly replacing parts or performing "shotgun" service procedures to try to fix a problem. Whatever happened to diagnosing the problem and then doing only the work required? You will probably get people on this forum advising to do or not do the ATF fix, but why not find out what is wrong first. You asked for advice- my $.02.

I agree with Ron. It could be ALOT of things: Old spark plugs and /or wires, bad exhaust, etc.
