Budget single turbo help
I'm trying to go single turbo on my car to increase the reliability of it and to increase the power. However, I'm not gonna kill myself on this build because I'm not entirely sure if i wanna keep the rotary in there.
I'm shooting for around 400whp this year.
My car has 43,000 on it and the motor is in great shape. I just recently turned up the boost this year.
I have a power FC and an AEM meth kit.
I intend on using an HX35 holeset for price and durability reasons.
Therefore, as I see it I will need:
Turbo
Exhaust manifold
Injectors
FMIC
Fabbed downpipe
WG
fuel pump
My questions are:
1.Is there anything else I'll need? Like a map sensor or something?
2. Fueling wise, what injector/fuel pump combo will I need? Mind you the goal is 400whp but i want room to grow if at all possible.
3. Any additional thoughts?
Thanks!

Do you plan on running more boost than the factory sensor can handle? Simple answer, if so, then yes

This has been posted countless times...and it'll give you a general ideahttp://www.maxcooper.com/rx7/how-to/...tem/calcs.html
3. Any additional thoughts?
You'll need some block off plates, I'd probably upgrade the ignition, add a wideband in there...that'll get you going down the right path

Leave stock primaries and get either 1300 or 1600 secondaries. Switch to dual walbro's and external regulator. (pumps and regulator can be used on a later engine of ur choice too)
Oil feed and return set up
filter for the turbo
hks twin tower or other ignition
clutch if u don't have one already
pretty much any of the "single build threads" on this forum have all the info u need and everyone use the same basic parts. Good luck

For simplicity sake, just upgrade the secondary injectors. You'll be fine with a single supra fuel pump. If you're still on the factory clutch you'll end up toasting it pretty quickly. You could do 400whp on the factory map sensor (I've done it) but if you over-boost you're playing with fire as you're ready to max it's reading capability. Oh you're going to need block off plates and you'll have fun with the rats nest in there. I think everything else you have will finish the job...

couple small things that i would budget for:
- i had a leak between my aftermarket secondary injectors and the LIM, there are spacers to help with that
- new bolts as you have to remove (cut) at least one bolt that's seized :-P
- fabrication costs of turbo to IC pipe
- fabrication costs of welding BOV to IC piping.
- boost controller or running heavy duty air line to wg for spring based control
- rewiring your fuel pump while you are at it (bosch relay and wire)
datalogit mentioned yet?

+1 to being OK with one supra pump... im running stock primaries and 1600 secondaries with a supra pump and am at right about 400whp. you might want to look into rewiring your fuel pump as well
also select a good tuner

One suggestion to cut costs, buy good used parts as opposed to buying crappy new parts. You'll be happier in the long run, but it may take some time to source them. Don't forget how much time/effort/money it takes to do the custom fabrication like mentioned above, exhaust, intake piping, BOV, etc. Always budget for an extra 25% for the small ****, cause it adds up fast (oil/water lines, adapters, fittings, etc)

He speaks the truth, I just got done doing the same thing over the winter, my goal was to keep it a 'budget build', but the more I researched the more things I kept adding to the build, though our goals are a little different all the little stuff adds up quick.
I would start at one place and work your away around the car, don't try and do it all at once. (IE..do fuel pump/wiring first..then tackle the turbo and fitment and oil lines...etc)
