BOV function

What is the intended function of the blow off valve? In a single turbo set-up, does it need to be as close as possible to the compressor or could it be near the throttle body inlet? When running higher than stock boost, say 15 PSI or higher, do I need to go to an aftermarket BOV or will stock still do what is nescessary?

Try going to www.howstuffworks.com and type in Blow Off Valve. I'm not being a smartass, but that site really helps to break things down. Also, try keeping the BOV as close to the TB as possible. And the stock FD BOV will hold just fine at 15psi. I don't know about any higher than that though.

purpose is to avoid compressor surge by relieving the shockwave that is created when the throttle body snap shut.

most if not all would argue that the best place is to put it on the tb side of ic piping.

Closest to the TB is best as it will see the surge sooner than if it were closer to the compressor.
