Cool Boost controller Vs. wastegate question etc.

I am trying to understand boost principles.. now when a stock Rx is a full boost (5-6psi?) Where is the excess pressure released when the throttle plates close i.e. (between shifts.). Is there a stock blow off valve? Is a blow-off valve also known as a "pop-off" valve? Is the pressure released through the wastegate? And is the wastegate the same thing as a boost controller?
Thanks I know this sounds a little vague but anything would help...

the bov recirculates the air into the intake snorkel i belive, and yes there is a stock bov

a wastegate and boostcontroler are diff things but work together. A wastegate by its self or "off the spring" will open once the boost pressure exceeds spring pressure ( i belive) A boostcontroler however will depending on the brand/version and its cababilites will activate the wastegate depending on how its set up

The excess pressure is released through the BOV, which is different than a pop off valve. A bov is actuated by vacuum, so when you let off the gas and shift, it gets a momentary vacuum and opens.. which allows the excess pressurized intake air to escape. A pop off valve is simply pressure activated, say you have one set for 15psi.. it is like a safety feature to prevent overboost/blowing your motor.

A wastegate is a boost controller in a way, it is pressure activated and when opened allows excess exhaust gas to bypass the turbine and prevent the intake air from pressurizing any further. All a boost controller does is allow a controlled venting of the vacuum line feeding the wastegate, essentially delaying when the wastegate hits the point at which it should open.
