Biggest stock mount ic for fd

Just wondering what the biggest core size would fit in the fd engine bay. battery is relocated and the turbo it a t78. I really want a custom vmount setup so input on that would help too. Any one done custom ones all info will be appreciated. just no fmic stuff.

I am going to do my own v-mount setup on my FD shortly. I am also running a TO4R 1.0 A/R. The greddy two row is the intercooler I am using along with my koyo radiator. I know the v-mount idea has been beaten to death, but I did one on a friends 240sx, which was a bitch, but he has not had temps over 95C even on the hottest days and running hard. That's just my situation, I hope that helps you figure out yours. Good luck.

i have a core that is the size of the m2 large or asp large or pettit large...etc. I could easily fit a much larger core but with this I could probably still fit a stock battery if I hadnt relocated mine.

the Kevin (T) Wyum designed ASP/m2 large intercooler is an excellent choice especially if you plan to run road courses and autocross where front weight is a key consideration.

large intercoolers are heavy and you want that much weight back as far as possible which is not the case w a front mount.

as to the packaging... i run the IC with a relocated battery and no a/c, ps, etc. the intercooler should locate laterally by referencing the duct. i find most m2 intercoolers locate, due to poorly engineered piping from m2, 2-3 inches towards the passengerside thus masking part of the duct. i reengineered mine so it mates w the duct.

it is then approx an inch from various elec components on the driver's side so no additional room on the driver's side. there is plenty of room on the pass side depending on how you engineer the air ducts/hosing to the turbo intake(s). running my setup i have no room for additional intercooler core.

i doubt if you could pick up a measurable increase in cooling w another inch or two of intercooler.

IMO you should concentrate on getting the hot air OUT of the engine compartment. i am working on louvers for my stock hood.

it sounds like you are heading in the right direction... while you are fixturing your setup i suggest you move your air intake temp sensor to the IC pipe between your IC and throttle body and locate your BOV where it belongs on the end tank of the IC.

good luck,
