Big Hp Clutch

What clutch are you guys using to put the power to the ground. I have a 93 FD with a single, and I want something that will hold at minimujm 400rwtq and 500rwhp. I want his for drag racing, if its a little bit crappy on the street, I am not gonna sweet it.

If you can get over the price, a twin plate will do wonders.

I'm installing the Exedy TwinPlate later this week, so if you hold off another week or two, I'll let you know how it feels. But I don't have near the power you do, yet if you seach on the twin plates alot of people recommend them for this power level and up. They are supposed to have a slightly stiffer pedal feel over stock and are slipable. Plus they last longer and are rebuildable. But like I said, search the foum, people have said this before.

EDIT By the way, the exedy twin plate is supposed to hold like 750 lbsTQ which should be more than enough.

i second the ACT extreme with a sprung 6-puck. not too bad on the street, ya just have to get use to it, and holds really well. i'm sticking with it on my 20b, should hold just fine. a buddy of mine has 800+ on his drag car, he's been using it for over a year, no problems.
if you want a stock feel with high torque capability as well, the twin plate is the way to go.

act 6 puck extreme will handle almost anything you throw at it. I will tell you that it will give you leg a work out and will take just a little bit of getting used to. If you commute in a lot of traffic daily, i do not suggest this clutch to you. If this is your weekend car, go for it.

yeah, I guess the best bet would be to go with something that the 20b guys are using. Cause if it can hold the power they are making it should hold the power I am hoping to make.

Steve, what are you gonna be using on your 20B. Also where is teh website for the clutchmasters clutch.

hope you have the drivetrain to hold up to that type of power it sounds like you will be doing some damage to parts other than the clutch if drag racing is your thing

Just Preparing, slowly, I know stuff is gonna break, but I'll see how long it'll last. So the Act extreme with the 6 puke should work? I don't want to spend the 1450 on the exedy twin plate, unless it is truely that good!!

Alright, used the search function, and it seems like howard promotes the exedy single.

And that alot of people are saying that the ACT Extreme 6 puck will not last long.

What would be the best for a weekend driven car, that is drag raced alot, and is making the numbers above. I may just order the 6puck act extreme because it is 1/3 the price of the exedy twin plate, which is what I think would be best.

well if the act won't last long, you might end up saving money in the long run with a twin plate or even the exedy hyper single... I am personally going with an OS Giken twin.

I got my Exedy twin for 1300 out the door, but thats cause I have hookups...
If you have part friends then use them. Thats how I got my price= their cost+shipping+tax+a little for them so they stay in business, but not the mark up that every one does.

There a a bunch of good clutches out there that will hold that power. Its the repeated abuse and the ability not to explode that you are looking for. I would have to say, my top 5 would be, in no specific order:
1. ORC-Ogura Racing Clutch Twin
2. Exedy Twin
3. OS Giken Twin4
4. Spec Stage 4
5. Tilton Carbon/Carbon. I hear this one is stable up to 1000 lb-ft of torque!! Ahhh!!!

I don't know of any sites off hand that carry the OS twin, but I've seen some before. I got mine through hookups too... $375 for a used one w/ the parts needed to convert to push type clutch.
