Best turbos for power and quick spool up?
Hi everyone,
Just bought a Borg Warner s366 for my 13b T2 engine unfortunately my engine needs a rebuild again it wasn't done right the first time.
Anyways I wanted to know what kind of turbo some of you guys are running and what kind of power your making, full boost by what rpm and what type of engine mods you have all inputs which aren't made up are welcomed.

Nah, j/k.
I hit full boost by 3.4krpms and made 366whp/301tq running wastegate pressure with a final boost of 11psi.
This is on an FD, I will say "was" because my engine died shortly after DGRR due to oil loss (a -AN oil fitting worked loose on the highway home, dumping all my oil and spinning my engine bearings).
Turbo/Intake/Exhaust:
I am (was) running a PT6265 with an A-spec manifold. I have a 4" (turbo-back) exhaust with no cats. Intake wise my TB is enlarged with larger butterflies installed, my UIM/LIM have both been extrude honed then coated (teflon internal coating, ceramic exterior coating). I'm running a large VMIC that keeps intake temps within 10c of ambient
Engine setup:
Engine wise, I had a brand new engine (brand new housings, irons, e-shaft, bearings, seals, etc., etc) that was Street Ported by Speed1. I was running S4 N/A rotors which had been lightened and clearanced by Chip Ursu (Chips Motorsports), then Chip balanced my entire rotating assembly. We used REC Super Seals, but kept the OEM springs, Side, Corner, and soft seals. The engine was built and tuned by Brian (TitaniumTT) with very tight clearances on the apex/side/corner seals.
If it hadn't have been for the oil fitting working loose my engine would still be running stupidly strong!! Low end/transient response was incredible, the turbo response was near instantaneous, my torque curve was like a table top, and the hp curve was extremely generous.

Definitely be searching.
I will list what is relevant to power and spool for my setup. Ensure fuel, ignition, ECU, and of course drivetrain are good to go...
REW Pineapple Large SP engine
Turblown TD61R ball bearing, 1.15AR
Turblown twin scroll dual wastegate manifold
4" Downpipe with wastegates plumbed in
3.75" Greddy Race exhaust
Rotary Extreme Vmount
50/50 water meth preturbo
It spools pretty damn quick. I saw 24psi by 4200prm. This is with a crapped CHRA as the turbo died 3 days later. With my rebuild, I will likely see the same boost by 3800-4000 this time around.
As others have asked, what are your goals? You haven't really given much info other than the S366. Are you limited to pump gas (93), E85, or do you intent to use W/M? The 366 is an awesome turbo, and capable of 550-600whp. If you are planning wring it out, that T2 block will need a good bit of work.
Many things affect spool.
Manifold design
Turbo bearing type
Turbo A/R
DP size
Wastegate plumbing
Intercooler piping length

Thanks for all the great input guys anyways the car is going to be my weekend car most likely. I previously had another fc with this t2 motor and entire setup but with another turbo much bigger than this one but that was a uncomfortable drag car and one day driving on the highway the rear plate blew right by the dowel pin guessing over boosted, leaned out etc... So after that I bought a clean 10th AE t2 shell with perfect interior instead of the seats which I'm getting redone. Once I opened the engine and put it back together this being my first build I'm guessing all the clearances weren't right so I have low compression 60 each rotor I called up CLR in Miami talked with Carlos Lopez and he said bring over the engine we will go over it together and he's going to make me do all the prep work and show me how you really build a rotary engine with all precise measurements and he's giving me a great price.
Current mods: T2 large streetported engine, s366 twin scroll turbo, large fmic, 850cc primaries 1600cc secondaries, engine has been machined out for 7 extra dowel pins by Kilo Racing in Orlando, FL, turbonetics external wastegate, 4 barrel aluminum thrrole body supposedly flows better, tial bov, 93 fuel previously was running e85 with all 1600cc injectors don't want the hassle of finding e85, als super seals, 93 corner seal springs, 3 inch down pipe to 4 inch exhaust with HKS muffler, Aeromotive a1000 external fuel pump, 10 gallon fuel cell in the rear original tank was rusted, stock flywheel ACT HD pressure plate, 4 puck unsprung clutch disc, aeromotive fuel pressure regulator, jacked up omp and will be also using premix, microtech lt8s, msd 6a on the leading coil, stock t2 coils, Himini Racing polyurethane engine and trans mounts.
I believe that's about all the mods.
fendamonky: Sorry to hear about the oil leak and engine failure as rotary car owners we all face things like this its a gift and curse thanks for the heads up I'm going to secure all of my fitting a little better.
Hope you get it up and running soon.
XLR8: Your making great power bro is the car your daily driver? also how long has it been running with that much power and is it pretty reliable?

I'm running a Precision 6266 .84 a/r ball bearing turbo with A-SPEC manifold very similar to Fendamonky, I couldn't be more pleased with the response and power. I'm at 1 bar with intentions to go to 20-25 psi but the power jump from my BNR hybrid to this is so large I'm very content where it's at now.
EDIT: The s366 is a very comparible turbo to mine, it'll probably make more power up top though if that's what you are looking for, but we're talking 25-30 psi. All depends on your goals for the car.

Reliable? Sure. Only been making said power briefly as I just finished my setup. Was making 454whp with same engine for about a year before that. Its all about solid tuning and water/meth.
If you are limited to pump only expect to only run 15psi or so. But on a 366 that will still be solid power.

I´ll start stripping the engine out and tearing it down once I get home from vacation in November
I´ll be redoing it all this winter; I´m keeping the same engine (rebuilt of course) but swapping to an RX-8 e-shaft, scrapping the PFC in favor of a Syvecs S8 (building a brand new wiring harness with all new parts), and I´ll be replacing my ignition system with the AEM/IGN-1 coils. I´m kinda up in the air whether I´ll be going to DGRR this year though, it was the source of too much stress last year so I may just relax this spring.
