Best turbo for 0-100 acceleration?

Best turbo for 0-100 acceleration?
How does the T-60-1 compare to the T-62? I have heard the T-62 called "the ultimate streetable turbo" before, and need to know which I should buy.
It is my understanding that the T-60-1 will bolt to the HKS manifold, and the T-62 requires a custom manifold. That's about all I know...
Ideally, I am looking for the best 0-100 acceleration, and care little about speeds over 120 mph. Am I barking up the wrong tree with these two turbo selections? Is there something else better for off the ine and low end spooling?
If it makes any difference as to which motor/intake I am using, it's a series 5 TII and stock intake with the TB mod.

Ummm... anyone? I rrealize not many people have a T-62, but any help here would be appreciated.
This is not for drag racing, it is for street use. 0-100 without 3K-5K clutch drops are the key.
Suggestions?

ok ill try and help you out. a 60-1 will be a good turbo because it spools relativly easy and you can make 400rwhp around 16-18psi which is easily fast enough when all stuffed into a first gen. if you want something even faster spooling i would look into some of the ne "gt" series garrets i would love to strap a gt35/40 or 42 on a fb that would be insaine full boost by 3200rpm

Thanks! I was looking for some validation, and you gave it. The T-60-1 is the one I am considering.
Sounds like a Garret would be insane. I'd need slicks just to keep from spinning donuts.
Does anyone think there is a better option than the T-60-1?

My buddy has the 60-1 on his TII and it spools up very very fast. It starts spooling around 3 - 3.5K RPMs and gets to 15psi before it reaches 6K. His car was dynoed at 410 RWHP @ 18psi. He currently has it set at 15psi for now using pump gas, but it still pulls awesome! 0-100mph comes up damn quickly. He raises the boost to 20psi when he uses race gas. He has the 60-1 on the HKS cast exhaust manifold and is also using an HKS wastegate. I made a manual boost controller for him using an adjustable pressure relief valve. http://pages.cthome.net/gus/mike.html
This is much better than using a bleed off valve, and it also makes the turbo spool faster than the bleed type valves. You can make your own or buy on for around $35.

Oh, I forgot to mention that his TII motor is ported, dowel pinned, running a Haltech ECU, 3 MSD ignition, Sperco intercooler, RBeat turbo back exhaust. So the 60-1 works well with this setup, not sure how it'll work if you're using with a stock motor.

I used many 60/62 style turbos but while they are excellent for good power, after the twin seq. FD's use standard they were still disapointed with the mid range and throttle response(lag). Over the past 6 months I have been using the Garret dual roller bearing 700hp units and have been impressed withthe results. At the same boost for street running ( pump fuel 98oct) these units will make an extra 30whp and spool approx. 1,500rpm earlier. When held under load they will make 12-14psi from 2,500rpm. I use Microtech MT8 for ECU and the new laptop unit enables me to change the high boost sites at every 500rpm so remapping was no problem.
These turbos sell here in Australia for $2,700 ($1400US) which I have found to be relatively cheap compared with others. I am now trying an internally wastegated exhaust housing to save $ on external wastegate. I will be testing over the next 2 weeks if you are interested.
I have been using these on both standard and modified engines, The std Fd block should not require pins until you exceed 18-20 psi, on pump fuel this should not be an issue.

Thanks for the information all. And definitely keep us posted on the Garret situation. What mainifold does the Garret turbo use?
I will be running whatever setup I decide upon on a stock motor. Porting and dowel pinning would come after the engine buys the farm.

Zyounker and I just dropped his S5 engine with S6 intake into his FB. Just for ***** and grins, I took my turbo system off of the shelf (60-1, p trim exhaust, HKS cast manifold, HKS wastegate) and put it on the engine. That thing fit like a dream. We didn't bolt it on or anything, but we were just curious if it would fit and what it would look like.
In this picture, you can tell how far the manifold was away from the exhaust ports, just to emphasize the fitment, it looks to be a PERFECT match for a 1st gen.

Very nice! Nice polishing work on the intake and engine too.
If the Garret requires a custom manifold, or may have fitment problems in a SA/FB, I think the T-60-1 is the route I'm going.
