Question Best Single Turbo

In your opinion, what is the best single turbo for the 3rd gen? Not looking to go lightspeed, just want to be able to take the ricemobiles. Say for an average driver, daily driven, looking for at least 400hp at the tires; doesn't need to be much more than that, but it can be. Also, what can be done to increase the low end horsepower? I hear that single turbo's don't put out as good a response at the low end than the stock setup.

The Apexi RX6 should get you to 400 with proper tuning and other mods. It is a BB and spools quickly like the stock twins. A larger turbo such as the Greddy T-78 or T-88 would get you 400 at a lower boost level. There are many other things to consider though. 400 is a fairly big number, you will have to do numerous other things and get it tuned properly but it is certainly attainable. Check out the mods list on the sigs of some of the guys on the single turbo forum, that will tell you what you will need.

A smaller single turbo a T04E or a relatively small BB turbo like APEXi RX6 will give you better response than the stock setup. Both turbos have the same or better power output at low revs and from about 4000 rpm +... leaves the stock setup for dead. I honestly feel that the singles feel more "laggy" only because when the boost comes on it hits SOOO hard.

400 hp is a big number on street fuel and modest boost levels. It will have to be a well tuned. I put down 417 corrected RWHP with a ported low compression engine, APEXi single, E6K on 89 octane fuel at 15 psi.

Good Luck,

Cheuk

for the street the APEXi/IHI RX-6 is tough to beat
for a good street/strip turbo the T-66 is awesome

Something along the lines of a .70 a/r compressor with a 60-1 blade and a 1.00 or 1.15 exhaust with a P blade would be right on the money for what you are after.
