back firing at 4500 to 5500 rpm

I live in st louis and I have a t 66 street port rx7 and I keep back firing at 4500 to 5500 rpm. I dont know if its a spark plug or what but its freaking me out when I do it. I have a brand new 13b in the car with about 5000 miles on it. anyway let me know what I need to do or maybe what it could be. thanks

Is it backfiring while you're hard on the throttle, or when you're letting off or is it in any situation between those two rpm marks?
