Question AVC-R duty range, gear judge settings

Should I set my AVC-R to the lowest or highest duty cycle setting that will comtrol the desired boost level? It seems there is typically a 2-3% range that will control it within +_ .05 bar. My unit has gone into self- learn mode before, however I cannot get it to do it when I want to. From what the previous owner told me since the stock ECU is gone, not all of the wires are hooked up, like the ones for speed and gear selection. Can I wire these in on the Haltech, or perhaps to something else like the speed sensitive power steering, tach, or speedo?

What are the appropriate number settings for the gear judge on my AVC-R for my 89-90 TII tranny? (not sure which year it is, but I'm sure they are the same)

For gear selection feature to work the speed and tach wire must be hooked up. I know nothing about haltechs so cant help there.
