apex rx6 times (maxcooper)

have the opportunity to buy a rx6 kit and am wondering is it worth selling my new twins and dp for the conversion? what kind of times have been reported using this kit? i have a supra here in town that needs to know what losing feels like. he runs low 12's / high 11's.

if anyone has similar mods as follows, speak up. i will be at a show and not able to checck / respond til after 5.

streeport, pwr rad, resonated mp, tanabe cb, power fc, diy wideband, profec b, alum ast, custom npr fmic, and possibly apex rx6 kit

if anyone is close, let me know what kind of 1/4 yuor getting. and no, i'm not going to be using this as just a strip car......VERY rare occasion that i will drag this car, just a few times. more of just a myth when its finished, as it will come out at night once a month and just for people to ponder capabilities

thanks

I've NEVER been to the track before yesterday. On a very richly tuned GT35/40 setup I went 12.228 @ 113.98Mph. Stock engine, 17psi. Rest of mods in Sig.

This turbo is good for low 11's - high 10's in a full street trim car and I'm now addicted enough to get there.

sometimes I only think going single is for reliable purposes!!! anthonyNYC=11.1@122(i think 122) with 386rwhp. What kinda new twins are they??? BNR??? if there bnr then you should keep them. btw dont waist your money on a rx6. buy a gt3540 or gt40.

ET Streets mounted on stock wheels. But remember I've never been down the quarter mile in ANY car before so yes, my times have lots of room to improve.

the thing is, i don't have a lot of money. all mine is tied up on this shitbox of a car and the parts to get it going again. i have a brand new set of factory twins that a guy is interested in (he posted a thread on rebuilt vs. new turbos in the 3rd gen forum) and he's tryin to bust my ***** for a couple hundred dollars less than what i have in them AND give him my brand new efini y-pipe included in the deal. he must be on some good

sell the twins and buy you gt35/40... I woundnt recomend buying a used turbo form somebosy you dont knoe. Its better safe then sorry. The rx6 cant be rebiult. If you buy a rx6 and it needs rebiult then tears will fall man. If I were you and money is an issue, then I would send the turbos to Brian Bnrsupercars. If you need his number then pm me I will give it to you. Staying with twins is thoudands of dollers cheaper. Brians twins have alot of potential to them. maybe 400-450 rwhp. Its up to you though. i think everybody should have there own experience if they have the money to. Sence you tubos are already rebiult then it should be cheaper the have the stage 2 uprgrade.

The rx6 can be repaired ... however, there is only one shop stateside that will service it, that i know of anyways.

It's a good turbo, spools as fast as the stock twins and has good potential. Great for the street. I'd only consider installing it on a healthy motor with good tuning.

sence there the only shop, How much do you think they will charge to rebuid it. I dont think the rx6 is a cheap turbo either. I heard the part to rebuild the rx6 where almost as much as a brand new turbo.

TEC fixed my RX6 (for a very reasonable price), but they were only able to do it because I didn't need any new parts. Generally, this turbo is not rebuildable. I'm just asking here, but can you rebuild any bal bearing turbo? I mean, do you have to just buy a new rotating assembly for all of them?

I don't drag race normally, though I did it once with the stock turbos once and it was fun, so I am not against it or anything. I don't have any times for my car with the RX6. It ran 13.36@108.6 MPH with the stock turbos and two broken apex seals, though.

I really like the single turbo, so if you can upgrade for about the same price (and you already have all the supporting hardware), go for it. If you aren't limited to the RX6, it might be worth considering the 35/40 or one of the other kits. Like everyone who goes single turbo, I think I would be happy with something bigger, too.

id like to know just how streetable the gt3540 is. the rx-6 kit seems to be a very strong kit. . . how long can the gt3540 hold up as compared to the rx-6?
