We just got in one of the generic ones off of eBay for our 20B car.
Crap, for $400 shipped, it was a DEAL compared to something from Spearco.
Pricing out a similar Spearco core and endtanks, it would've cost us $800 core, $100 per end-tand, + welding!
Ours is a 24" wide, 12" high, 3" thick core with polished endtanks 3" inlet / outlet.
This thing is HEAVY.
I'd estimate it's at least 30 to 35 lbs.???

I need to change my mind on some of these eBay intecoolers.
For $400 shipped, this was a %)*#&%)#%@*$& DEAL.

Current auction...

It looks like the guy only sells two at a time.
One worldwide (to target US and others), and the other for AUS...
It might spook some people that the seller is from HK, but we paid through PayPal and everything went smoothly.
The feedback is not perfect (some buyers complaining "new" units arrived were actually used), but the majority were satisfied.
For the 50% to 75% discount of a similar Spearco unit, we're pleasantly surprised.

If you look for those, you can find more just like them. There is another guy selling many at a time, but he paints HKS, TRUST, and GREDDY on the front of them.....

Also how many rows does that intercooler have?

I researched the story, and he was right.
I think the CARB-EO certification is posted online - try do a web search.

I really don't understand how you can claim DOT-certified.
I don't think ANY of these intercoolers are certified for that.
I'd like to see proof of such?
I've never seen it myself.

IC has nothing to do with vehicle safety.

I assume to much? hardly..
Ic has to do with the structural crash rating of the car in a frontal collsion, our front crash standards in Canada are higher than the US's and is the reason the US got the EVo, and other such cars, while in Canada we are sold the non turbo versions, the oem style IC's collapse to easily in some cars.
DOT certifying is not something that has to be done to every part, most manafacturers and service shops are licensed to cover the ratings for DOT, and they approved to do so, why else do you think the OBX would make a point of mentioning that its not CARB, DOT or SAE, if it never had to be ? Why scare people off if those ratings mean nothing?
In industry be it automotive, electrical, whatever everyone who is doing it by the book pays for the right to prodcue stuff, and will use certified materials so that its covered by such trade desigantion, not everything has to be stamped , If I use a SAE pipe on a job with SAE welding procedures , its considered an SAE approved job, in the case of that intercooler, the materials are probably not graded, its probably a lesser grade of aluminium with no T or alloy rating, the brazing is probably not done with any kind of schedule which means if you were going to buy those and use them in on road application, once again, the onus is on you for doing so, not them, should it blow apart under pressure, and cause some other kind of damage to the car, which resulted in injury, if that thing came apart at 2 bar of boost , would it flatten tires, sever brake lines, or cause severe damage to the rad and running gear? The people who are selling that intercooler cannot guarantee that and are not willing to, hoever I bet if you traced a spearco core back to its roots, it would use SAE graded materials, approved brazing and cleaning procedures, pressure testing, and probably some other kind of proffesional qulaity control standards...
Still its not a bad deal, but you get what you pay for...Max

Scroll down, there are some pictures I took of the IC....

Anyways, it is a very nice IC! I don't see any defect, the polishing isn't a perfect finish, but is nice. And this thing is huge! You don't really get the size of it just by looking at the pictures.... Or that's just me.

I honestly wouldn't buy it if I were you.... I sold it to someone else because I had no use for it, but I know have a Blitz front mount for my FD, and the quality difference is HUGE.

And if you have an FC you will probably have to cut your car up to put that in.

I have that type of IC on my car, and let me tell you it is a beast, never felt the intake pipe get hot at all, wish I had a Temp guage on both sides of the IC to measure the kind of temp differences... Should be dramatic....definately better than the greddy and spearco Ic that I had on the car.
BTW it is 4" thick.

The one that I bought was 3" thick.... My blitz that I have now is 4"

And along with dual temp gauges, get dual boost gauges to measure the pressure drop that thing is giving you.... Bigger isn't always better.

What you do, hit a deer on the passenger side corner???
