Another "Which rotors for me" thread. Need opinions!

1987 TII motor
Bigger streetport
Holset H1E with 26cm^3 exhaust housing on tubular manifold
1000/1600cc injectors
Haltech e6x

Would like 300-400whp or so

I'm trying to balance a number of factors.

1) What kind of boost I'm going to have to run to get the turbo to spool
2) What kind of fuel (pump 93 vs. e85)
3) Whether S4 N/A (9.5C/R) or S4 TII (8.5CR) rotors are going to be better for my application.

Right now, I'm thinking run the turbo rotors, which should allow me to run more boost and push the turbo farther into it's efficiency range, even though the engine itself would be less efficient.

Thoughts?

I answered in the other thread about the 26cm housing. I ran that hotside for a while until I downsized to a 22cm housing. I was running 14 psi on stock ports and made 364 to the wheels.

I was running on 93 when I made 364. Unfortunately, I am running 91 in Cali.

I cannot help you with the rotor selection though.

Are you both on TII rotors, or are you talking about an FD, caredden?

I suggest the 8.5:1 rotors mostly because it leaves you more room for error during tuning.

if you can't change the turbine housing on the turbo then i would go with a higher compression. yes the lower compression gives more room for Fooking when tuning but i think the car will be a bit laggy. just my 2 cents as i'm no guru here.

Whoops. Good question.

Mostly drag, although I plan on driving it on the street once in a while. Maybe also a track day once a year.

Might just be me, but i would run whatever is in my hands. 300-400hp has been done 1000's of times and the difference between 8.5 and 9.5 rotors isnt going to matter for a 300-400 want to do a little bit of everything motor...

Unless you're gonna be using E85, I would say stick with the 8.5's..

P.S. I love how many people are starting to use Holsets!

I think I'm going to go with the 8.5's and maybe try e85 later. Hopefully this **** runs alright on 91.

Also, I'm amazed with how many holset threads there have been in this section, too! Seems like every other person has a question about them!
