Add another catalytic converter??
Add another catalytic converter??
Guys,
I am trying to pass a tailpipe emmissions test with my single. I bought an LT1 air pump, I have a catalytic converter... but should I add another converter in series to increase my chance of passing?
Testing here costs $700 a shot and I want to pass the first time.

A second Cat should help, as long as you can get it good and hot for the test.
I noticed on my failed test that NOx was very low while my Hydrocarbons were very high. Leaning out the fuel on my Power FC would have helped a ton, as Nox values climb with a lean burn while hydrocarbons drop.
Alcohol in your fuel is supposed to help as well.
You should be able to lean out your fuel a lot at the test RPM in the parking lot then take the test. Since you are not under heavy load the chances of detonating should be low.

The test we do here is only 2500 RPM under very little load. I didn't hit boost anyway.
