87 NA to Turbo Conversion
Ok I have an 87 NA I have been pricing NA turbo kits and doing a complete T2 engine swap. Now that I am relativly settled in my new house and I have new daily driver (2001 Silver Ford Lightning
) I can park my RX7 ad do what it despratly needs. Of course I want more power so here's my thoughts on one course of action I might take....
Because I have a NA it would seem that the 6port engine would breathe better than a 4 port T2 engine. There for how would a NA turbo kit (with possibly a larger turbo too
) But when I rebuild my engine I thought about using the lower compression turbo rotors with 3mm seals(optional) in the 6port housings. That way I can keep the existing hardware and acessories for simplicity.
Any thoughts on this theory would be greatly appreciated.

It's very possible and been done many times before!!!
Actually the 4-port motor would breathe a lot better than the 6-port motor when turbocharged due to the restrictive 6-port intake hardware.
By removing the 6-port actuators and the sleeves from the intake runners the motor would breathe all that Boosted Air a lot better!
