That will handle anything you throw at it. I have the THRUST "greddy" 50mm wastegate and no boost spike what so ever..

On my Holset HX35/50 mm wastegate, it won't stay at the 10psi wastegate spring level. It creeps to 12-13psi....but I think its due to the Excessive engineering cast manifold design. That and the 3.5" DP, MP. CJ

I'm running the HKS standard 40mm and i'm having spiking problems. Gonna eventually switch to the Turbonetics NewGen wastegate.

Plain Answer:

no

Like (mostly) everything in the world, what you pay for is what you get. It's worth getting a $200-300 wastegate to insure that it will actually work for more then a week.

actually go ahead and buy the SSA wastegates and then replace the spring(s) with name brand parts.

This is what i planned to do with the 60mm HKS ripoff they offer. The housings will hodl up just fine but if the springs are made incorrectly or of cheaper material they may fail under high temps.

Many guys have been using the generic/name brand combo I described above.

Sure beats paying $1000 for a true HKS 60mm!

interesting, I had a SS 50mm about 2 years from now, never had a single problem until boosted over 26... i was thinking on the temps since pressure only drops when racing (very hot) but was pointing on the boost controller... i'll replace the spring and see how it goes....

if srpings hold you might have a boost contro problem...or your WG is to big/small for your a/r ratio,,, did you tried connecting the WG boost signal line to open the valve withou any control device?

Yes. judge ito and I ran the line staight from the TO4R outlet directly to the wastegate.
No luck. It opens @7lbs and will spike to 17+ . We got off because I didnt have the 3 bar connected. I want to get the PFC to tuned to the stock MAp sensor but I can get on the car because of this big spike issue.I wouldnt even call this a spike..it justgoes.We did remove the spring to put in the HKS spring. Same.I have been breaking the motor in but not allowing boost over 7.

What the hell.
Inlet and outlet are 2". No leaks in cap. Nothing connected to wastegate and it still runs off the charts......
How can this size orifice be TOO SMALL?I would hate to spend $900.00 on a Greddy 60mm if it is something else.the wastegate spring is opening at 10lbs.

On my HKS, and a friends of mines.....they where "sticky" from the factory. I had to have the guide honed out just a hair on mine...as did my buddy. I had my 50mm HKS overboost me to 23lbs a year or two ago. I about crapped my pants! I should have listened to Ralph@Groundzero and bought a tial. Only reason I did'nt was because I would have had to change the flange. Stupid on my part. CJ

On the dyno on a 5psi spring it will creep to 12.5psi.

This is on a Turbonetics racegate 42mm WG.

Bigger is better! I wish I went bigger.

You might just have too. On my big street port motors I cannot use anything smaller than the 60mm. I've tried everything else and always the same results... boost creep.
With the 60mm I get soild boost control from 9 psi to 40 psi.
BTW. The Greddy Type CH is 58mm. The HKS GT is 60mm and the GT2 is either 50 or 60mm.

Check out the 55 and 62mm wastegates on this page. Anyone ever use or heard anything about them?
http://www.capa.com.au/turbo_wastegates.htm

Now for replicator central-->

This one looks like a HKS GT2 copy-->

The same as above--> http://www.xo2racing.com/cart/produc...s7s43rbkthue95

The one on the bottom of this page 'looks' to be an exact copy of the HKS GT2.->

And off course the E-Bay special-->http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/60mm-...QQcmdZViewItem

Thanks,
I guess thats why we a re seeing two 38's now. What do the guys withthe GT42 use?
I cant imagine all these years big turbo and street ports everyone has been having creep issues. I guess I will need the larger better wastegate.
Now my issue is the cast iron HKS header has a square flange.
I would like this forever project to come to an end for enjoyment. I am closer ...
