You have much to learn, Grasshopper...
The short answer is yes, most single turbos develop more power and are faster than the twins. 'Make more boost' is a relative term - make more cfm for any level of boost is a better question (the answer is yes as well), AND you can run higher boost levels with greater efficiency.
You need to crawl through the archives on the single turbo forum and edumacate yourself - it takes a few months to get all the knowledge needed, and they you need to monitor to keep on top of things.

I used to be on top of the ins and outs of removing the W from 13B-EW, since I used to have a great intrest in these cars. It's been a while and now I might actually be getting one so I have to edjamacate myself all over again!
By the way, any good "learn to read compressor map" tutorials?
