Pics of parallel pumps
Here is what i did just to let people know! But the stock wiring wont run 2 pumps, so i need to run some new wire! enjoy

Hmm, looks like you are using 45deg fittings on it? Do you plan on running 45deg stuff all the way to the rails?
|
no thats 90 deg on the top to a converter to make it 3/8ths than a backwords t and barb fittings all picked up at mcguckens hardware store! I think im gonna get a 90 deg barb and it will amke it look nicer!

I would weld another -AN fitting to the top, and the 2nd Pump directly to it. Then run both -6AN fees to a "Y" AN fitting (-10AN or -8AN line) to run the fuel to the front. That 90' fitting you have on is too abrupt. A 45' would be smoother. Otherwise - Nice Job. I did something similar: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1355128 -10AN Feed, -8AN Return. |
thanks for the input! I am gonna get a 90 deg barb and replace that crazy ass hose! Is it the same with fuel every 90 deg bend you lose 1% flow? thanks
Marc |
I mean 45deg flare opposed to 37 deg flare you see on all AN fittings.
|
|
one day i'll switch to dual pumps
|
man NYT is not fucking around!
|
Why do you still have the stock hard pipes lines?? But still very nice job! Ill take some more pics of the whole deal! Fastrotaries im not fucking around eithor!! :D
|
What should be the presure i get with 2 pumps?
|
If your regulator is good for the flow, the pressure should be the same as before, only it will maintain it when you demand the extra fuel.
|

damn you did all that and now run stock return lines!! Did you end up keeping the charcoal canister?
|
dear god no. the stock return is fine. stock tank, etc... i run -8(?) or was it -6? from my regulator to one of the stock lines right below...
|
what's the reason everyone is switching to dual pumps instead of just one large on like the aeromotive i have seen on other applications??
I mean, i could see dual pumps if you have a dedicated line to the primary and another to the secondary....but what's the reason if you're just going to y them together anyways. then if one pump fails you get half the fuel, motor still runs, and then blows. with one pump, if it fails then the motor still might blow, but you also have a good chance of it all just dying and only having that one point of failure. maybe it's just me??..... |
What pumps are you using direct freak?
|
he's got an aeromotive
|
Yeah, Aeromotive 1000. My whole fuel system was documented HERE, if anybody cares.
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1210079 I agree with Suganama though, the only advantage I see for dual pumps (instead of a single large pump) is to have less noise. Then you could run one all the time, and the 2nd under boost, staged with a good ECU. Although at higher boost pressures, I have seen this kind of setup have fuel pressure drops. |
the other advantage to dual pumps is if one fails you still have something to drive on :)
|
my pumps are quiet
and they flow A LOT of fuel. ive seen aeromotives drop pressure on high end. i run LOTS of boost.. and now im building a half-bridge port motor. |
and its not like im y'ing -8 and -8 to -8, its -10 feeds to the pumps, -8 from the pumps to the Y, then -10 to the secondary rail
|

T&R used to use aeromotive pumps...
but they couldnt support too much past 500 rwhp safely.. then we tried the SX 1000 pump.. which i had on my car and caused a blown motor when it died .. yeah its a nice race pump, loud as shit, but doesnt like being daily driven as we found out now im running dual bosch pumps.... its beautiful =] |
rob why are you worrying me.... i am running an SX pump.......hmmm
|
mine lasted about 5000 miles.
good luck |
motor go boom boom....
anyway, youll hear it start to go, youll see fuel pressure drops, blah blah blah.. everyone with them had to switch. |
mine has like 8k miles on it now. so far its been fine i haven't run over 15psi though!
|
First I hear of the Aeromotive issue...
But, just in case, I am glad I have the "A" pillar Fuel Pressure Gauge. |
directfreak: how much power are you making?
vosko: tune that fucker. jesus... just watch out with that pump, if you hear it start getting louder, get rid of it before you blow =[ |
ive got a similer setup on my first gen ,
3/8 pickup in tank to a carter pre pump (similer to a holley red) then into the surge tank, then 2 -10 feeds to the pumps (bosch 550hp's) then 2x -6 feeds, one to the primary rail and 1 to the secondary rail, then they both go into the 3rd fuel rail and out of that into the regulator then back to the surge tank by a 3/8 return, it will hold as low as 20psi fuel pressure, and will be hopefully enough fuel for everything i want to do, ill get some pics Dale |

Barry Grant has a new pump out that's supposed to be the hot ticket.
|
so street/long-term reliability is the issue here which is leading people to try out the dual pump setup....
anyone tried the paxton? nyt- what pumps are you using now and how are they working out for you? |

suganuma im using 2 bosch pumps. directfreak dont worry bout the aeromotive, it can support 400 rwhp...
worry if you plan to up the boost and go past 450 |
I did the dual cause of the noise! The Aeromotive is a damn loud! It sounds like a compressor firing up! Plus i did some math a long time ago and the duals would flow more than the aeromotive, nic do you know what all your boys from rx7.com run i was wondering about that.
|
hey i m havinga problem i need a -6 an fitting to go to that nipple on top tht the old 3/8th line went to. NYT did you judt weld a fitting shut on that nipple that was -6an? well 6 an for me.
|
In the aeroquip book its a flare to braze unplanted is that the fitting i would want to use? Since the nipple is ment for a 3/8 hose than a 3/8ths tube would probably be to small so ill probably want a 1/2 inch tube with a -6 male. Just wanted to see if i was thinking in the right direction!

Sorry i ment on the fuel pump bracket the old return line had a 3/8ths hose on it and i want to be a able to run a -6 return to that old 3/8th nopplle. So i think i just weld a fitting on there that is -6an. thanks what i was saying!

you moved to california??

Yep going to school out here!
