I'd say the most common turbo's ran over here are the T04S and TD07 25G followed by the To4E and To4R, but you will run across T88's, T67's and for those that can afford it T51R KAI's and SPL's

A T51R KAI is the same compressor as a T70 and the T51R SPL is the same compressor as the T76 for those that didn't know... :o:

Dragon how do u think the T88 would compeer with the T51kai on a 1/2 bridge have you been in any cars with this set up what did u think, and do u think it could be driven on the street or will it take for ever to spol up.

Why not just go with a T76, easy to get parts for and easy overhaul. It's very hard to get parts to fix a Mitsubishi turbo. As far as spool time it all depends on what exaust housing you have and how well you match it to your port. 1/2 bridge ported engines tend to spool the turbo pretty damn quick with a large exaust port, so if you ran a q-trim a/r 1.0 housing or near that size with the T76 and enough fuel to feed the beast I think you'd be pleased with it and the 600-700 hp it would make.. That is until it blows, destroys your tranny, burn up the clutch and breaks everything else in the drivetrain.. :D

The TA51 isn't the HKS T51 Kai , its a GARRETT turbo with a 76mm compresor wheel , mine also has a 71mm torbine wheel in a 1.22 a/r housing .

In Japan it's called a T51s, it is basicly the same turbo at the T45s that you guys call the TA45 that has a slightly smaller compressor housing, both turbo's work very well on a bridge ported engine. It's basicly designed off a diesl truck turbo and is very very dependable with long bearing life and made to spin at extensivly high rpms and works best for high boost applications. The exaust housing is attached with a V-band to the center cartridge. this makes it a breeze to pull off the engine because you can just pull the compressor housing and center cartridge off while leaving the ex housing attached to the manifold. It'll also make balls power. I've heard of several cars in Ausi pulling 700-800 hp with them...

According to the specs I got the TA45 uses a 70mm compressor wheel (inducer size) , everything you said is true though , everything is larger and more "heavy duty" , suggesting that it's built for extreme use.The V band clamps really make things a whole lot easier when working on the motor.

thats a nice turbo what is the spects is it ball bearing, i dont know to much about the spect on turbos thats why i posted this thread up but iam starting to realise that you can get a way with large turbos when u bridge a car, i know the larger turbos will give you more power cus u can get in more air in the engine at les psi but will the car still tacke off just as fast as the guys runing smaller turbos iam asking cus right now with the To4s it feels so responsive and i do drive the car on the streets a well but i dont want to get a bigger turbo and have more power but get beaten on the street not that i race all the time on the street but you do some times get cars that u cant resist. for give me guys.

ok i know what the spects are now but still would a car with a big turbo still be just as responsive from the start line as a smaller turbo.

AJC's TA45 made great power albeit from 7000-9500 rpm;)

This is awesome info guys. IGY and Dragon, you guys are some of the most knowledgable people when it comes to turbos.

So your saying that with a half bridge port, providing you choose the right turbo with a bigger hotside you can make 500rwhp@15psi ( i asume this is with pump gas). How did your 67-1 perform on the street. Was power very linear and was streetable? Or nothing happens until you get above 4500-5000rpm? Was this on a 13B-REW?

If your going to shoot for 500rwhp on pump gas it can be done, but I would recommend running aquamist water injection.. I was boosting 1.4kgcm with my To4r with a P-trim a/r 1.00 hot side and water injection with a max knock reading of 18 on my Power FC on pump gas. IGN is also a very important factor if you want the engine to live for a long time runing lots of power on pump gas and you'll want to run it at around 11.2:1 a/f to keep things cool inside. I never dynoed the car back then because the dyno's on the island at that time sucked and were worthless. Now that the Apexi dealer has a sweet new dyno we'll be doing more power checks.

I'll let Igy answer your questions about his car, but the answers are going to be YES, YES and NO and YES..... :D

Guy's What if i want with a T70 Q-trim A/R 1.15 Divided i think this could give me about 500rwhp on 1/2 bridge. what i want to know is at what PSI and basicely if you could give me your opionion.

It's full bridge port mate. when the t04r kicks in it feels like i'm in air plane taking off on full throttle literally.
If it wasn't so loud I would keep it for myself, but I have a few people interested to buy it. After this experience I am really considering getting myself another one with a blow engien and get it bridgeported and giv ethe skylines some competition at santapod and totb next year.
