Originally posted by es I personally have seen too may broken Pettit motors to trust one. I've split one open after it cracked an apex seal & didn't like what I saw on the inside. It looked basically like a stock build with 3mm seals. EVERYBODY else who builds motor will at the very least replace the thermopellet with a plug! The front rotor chipped an apex seal, but the rear housing was used & had a HUGE gouge running accross the top of the housing & into the compression zone! Go with the Pinnapple motor. He doesn't re-use housings, & he does oil modifications to reduce the oil temp. The result is fewer hotspots on the rotor face & less of a chance of detonation. I don't like 3mm apex seals. I've seen 3 blown motors with 3mm seals so I personally don't think they're worth fuking up the rotors for! 3mm Ceramics could be fine, but I have no experience with them. Race clearance the rotors! You might want to consider ceramic apex seals. wonder if i can still get rid of the thermopellet even after rebuliding my engine 7,000miles ago.. lol:D |
You run the risk of dropping the front thrust bearing, but it can be done.

Go anywhere besides Pettit to get your engine built, when i bought my car i knew alittle about imports but nothing about rotaries, i gave it to Pettit to put in one of their unlimited ecu's and "tune" it , mind you that i was stock exept for Dp, Cb,intake and pullies. Cam set me up at 14.75psi to run all day everyday and told me I WOULD BE FINE!!! Didnt tell me i needed race fuel or anything, He knows what he was doing and i blew my engine in a month. I would recommend Chad from ASIRACING.com, builds a great engine, friendly, and will go out of his way to make you happy he is in S.Florida and has built a number of 3 rotors, drag cars, and ultra fast street machines. Go anywhere but Pettit!!!

Personally if I were in Sounth Fl, I'd look up Chris Anderson.
And just to give you an idea, there are only a handfull of people in the US making 600rwhp with a turbo 13B in a street car......a very small handfull at that. Also, they are the kind of people that build thier own motors....they need to be cause your going to be replacing it every other year at least if you drive it hard a lot. Do you have any idea how fast the car would be with 600rwhp??? STEPHEN |

Decay, over here, peeps like yourself are called "WANKSTA'S" and also haters, so mind yur own and.... POOOFFF!!! Be GONE!!!

Whatever buddy. Good luck reaching 600 at the wheels, I hope you acheive it, honestly. But as others have pointed out as well, 600whp in one of these cars is plain rediculous/almost unnecessary. Based on some of your posts, it sounds as if you are attempting to take your mostly stock FD and jumping to 600whp...which just doesn't make any sense to me. It takes lots of time, LOTS of money, and a very knowledgeable owner/tuner...guys who have the ability to make 600whp usually don't post on a forum and ask others how to reach it, they just do it. They know what port job it will take, what engine management, which turbo, etc. etc. etc.
Anyway, good luck, and thanks for the PM. :peace: |

I don't think you need 3mm unless you're going to let KDR tune the car. Break the engine in like Rob says. Remember, you could use someone elses engine, but your results could vary. 2) More ignition, run 9's all the way around. Might even need 10's. You'll need an ignition amp. HKS TwinPower or MSDs. 3 2) Edits: Run 10's, and for the bigger power go with MSDs. |
just put a t76 or bigger( all the other stuff that people have mentioned), a good tuner(one you can trust), rent a dyno, and run about 25 psi . And Thats all I got say about that:). It will get you 600 rwhp, but will your engine make it back home,?, lets cross our fingers:D

oooh here is an idea.... 14000 bucks from sr gets u all the stuff they use in their drag car... minus the intercooler i think... its a fuly built engine and their stage 6 turbo kit.... thatll do it...

600 rwhp...
It's been done!!! All you need is an open exhaust, intake, LARGE Intercooler, AEM EMS, T-66 Q-trim w/ 1.15 a/r, 1000 cc x 4 injectors, street port, stock apex seals, aeromotive pump or SX pump, NTK UEGO O2 sensor, etc. 28 psi, C16, 70 shot = 680 rwhp 15 psi, 91 octane = 438 rwhp Tuning is the key! |

Originally posted by silvr94r2 This can't be Jason's car your referring to is it??? Sounds very very familiar indeed;) Actually, i know it is...but who's this? oh and what tony said is a very good point. pick your tuner first before settling on an EMS. see what they are more *comfortable* with tuning. :) |
single large turbo, big injectors/fuel pump/lines, nice big port, lots of boost and the most important part ....a good tuner!!!
|
If it were me I would go with Hass Dandachli set up at Protech Auto in Texas. It goes like this, Streetport, T-78, E6k, made 490rwhp at 17psi and 628rwhp on a 75 shot,
tuned by Fernando at Protech and the set up looks sweet. If your going from stock motor to 490rwhp then that will seem like 600rwhp and if you need more just push a button. There are people that will tell you NOS is for losers but with a turbo I think its just a good combo and it cant be worse than running 25 or 30psi on a engine. Fernando seems to think it is a good idea and it works for him so I going to give it a shot as well. All my info come from Februarys isue of Super Street and talking to Fernando at Protech. Hope this helps |
600+rwhp... hmmm.... get a Supra :p:
|
I ll take a 600rwhp rotary over a 600rwhp supra anyday and wax his ass!!!

It'll make life a whole lot easier and enjoyable. |
