Exclamation THE FD wheel fitment page

Based on the daily "Will x fit on my car?" threads I'm rather surprised no one has created a table for reference for stock fendered FDs. Seems like it would reduce the amount of these threads considerably.

I'd like to propose something like the tables below showing what fits. Items not in the table WILL NOT FIT!!!!

Feel free to comment or update any of these fields, particulalry 0.5" size increases. I can edit this post so all of the updated info stays in these tables:

Front
Diameter Width Offset (all positive) Fender Mods?
16 8 50 no
16 8 40 no
16 8 38 no
17 8 50 no
17 8 45 no
17 8 40 no
17 8 38 no
17 9 50 no
17 9 45 no if using 255-40 or smaller
17 9 40 no
17 9 38 depends on tire
17 10 50 not with tire < 275-40 and not lowered extensively
17 10 48 yes
18 8 50 no
18 8 40 no
18 8 38 no
18 9 50 no
18 9 45 no
18 9 40 no
18 9 38 yes
18 10 55 no, brake caliper clearance may be an issue depending on wheel, caliper
18 10 50 no up to 285-30 tire - if not lowered too much
18 10 48 yes, if using 285-30 tire

Rear
Diameter Width Offset (all positive) Fender Mods Required?
16 8 50 no
16 8 40 no
16 8 38 no
17 8 50 no
17 8 45 no
17 8 40 no
17 8 38 no
17 9 50 no
17 9 45 no if using 255-40 or smaller
17 9 40 no if using 255-40 or smaller
17 9 38 yes
17 10 50 not with tire < 275-40 and not lowered extensively
17 10 45 no
17 10 38 yes
18 10 55 no
18 10 50 no
18 10 48 no
18 10 45 no
18 10 42 no, but probably max offset without fender mods
18 10 38 yes, probably max offset for FD with stock fenders
18 11 48 yes if using 305-30 or 295-30 tire. *315-30 may not fit

Thanks,

Gene

It means no fender mods required.

gfelber, I wish I had some cookies because I'd give you a bunch You know it will only be a week before someone says "I saw in that thread by gfelber that this wouldn't fit but that was a week ago and I wanted to know if there is any new information?"

Tell me about it I guess it's no different than anyone else's suggestions. Perhaps a "user beware" caveat and names corresponding to fitments that worked?

I would be interested in fittment issues for like 18x9.5 or 18x9 for the rear. Anybody have those offset fittments?

Well, you certainly can be sure that offsets listed for 18x10 will work on 9 and 9.5.

If a more aggressive offset is desired, look here to figure out how it will compare to one of the wheels in the table.

Wow Gene,
According to this thing, your 11" wheels extend 7 mm further to the outside than my rears. (and quite a bit more to the inside as well). Hard to believe that fits... youshould mount a bullet cam at it next time on track to see the wheel go through it's arc under suspension load, and see how much it misses the lip by!

The inside is very close. I will NOT work with stock trailing arms as this is the area of least clearance. I estimate that it's about 3/8"- 1/2" or so for teh wheel and less for the tire's sidewall. As for the outside, the edge of the wheel is about even with the fender. Fortunately, the 295 tire tread is fall inside of the fender, but will certianly hit the fender lip under hard cornering.

I'll no doubt have to remove the lips. Brian Richards (formerly M2) demonstrated how you can remove the lips and work the fenders out a tad by hand to offer sufficient clearance- even with a 305-30 Hoosier. Obviously you cannot do this with the lips due to the added lateral strength.

I'm also running about 1.5 negative camber in the rear which helps as well.

So you have to roll the rear lip if you run a 17 9 43 rim with a 265 40 17 tire?

I was under the impression that this setup would work without rolling the fender?

No, it will fit fine for the rears, where are you getting that you'd have to roll the fender?

Hey Rynberg,
If I have 17x9 in the front and 17x10 in the rear with a 45 offset, instead of the 42 we talked about, it should work right?

Even better actually, that's a good fitment.

Thank you so much gfelber and rynberg for all of your help with these wheel questions!!!
Based on the measurements already given and using the site posted earlier in the thread I got the following:
18 8.5 40 is 16mm out (23mm would be the max given the info above)
18 9.5 38 is 31mm out (33mm max)
Being a long time "reader" and a newbie "post-er" I just want to thank those that have shared their knowledge with us to help make things a little easier.

As far as a way to check if "XX" will fit my car? This is what I did.
1. Refer to the list already given and see what you are willing to put up with(In regards to fenders etc.)
2. plug those values into calculator on the website
3. Find the wheels you want, and see if they have an offset that will match or be close.
From what I calculated, 23mm in the front is the max out, and 33mm in the rear is the max out. If this is right, great! If I'm wrong, damn. "Back to the first grade Billy!" Anyway, thanks again everyone.

Can some of you guys post pictures (especially those running 18x10 in the rear) especially of the clearence between the fender and the tire, also what size tire you are running, along with offset.

Thanks!

275/40/17 on Fikse FM10 17x10 on yellow Koni and sleeve-over Ground-control spring. No fender mod needed. Up front, it was another story......
