IL SideWayzGTU Full Build/Refresh

Hey RCC
I have been on this Fourm for a while some of you might know my Lowered Fc vert. fairly stock car i like to auto cross and have funn with. Well last week i picked up a 1989 fc gxl with a Individual carbed 13b with a couple mods.
Story behind the car: it was built by a guy in st louis,MO and i guess he like to drag race it. go figure. but then he sold it and it has since passed threw a couple hands to me. The people who bought it from him burnt the clutch and never fixed it. when i got the car oil and tranny fluid looked like it came straight out of the bottle. so im guessing they burnt the clutch way before they could poorly matain it. so kindof a blessing.

Here is what the car looks like now and where my Journey begins. I have already pulled the engine and tranny. im going to replace the clutch( which i have already purchased) resurface the flywheel (which is a 8 pound unknown aftermarket one) then clean and paint the engine bay before it goes back in. I have pictures of the pull but dont have them on my computer yet.

PS if anyone recognizes the car and knows who built it i would love to talk with him. (or if any board members who live in st louis want to do some research that would be awesome.)

Here is how she Sat when i got her.

Uhhh....

Those are the exhaust sleeves...only way to put them back in correctly is to open up tho motor. The fact that they came out like that is not good news.

If you seed the roll pin jammed into it, thats supposed to go into the sides of the rotor housing.

Edit: looking at them again it looks like he cut off the diffuser part of the n/a sleeve and re welded it together. The proper way to do this is to use the TII sleeve which doesn't have a diffuser in it.

Get some pics of the exhaust ports from the block, and if you look in there you will see where those roll pins are supposed to go.

ummm. thanks i think?

I actually really like it. i have a mint 88fc vert and i feel like i cant touch it or beat on it. so i love this car cuz its a really fun cheap as hell build. Im looking at probably 1500(give or take a few hundred)for all the parts i want/need and it fully painted. minus the wheels im going to get. but yea if it blows i got a solid chassy for a 13bt
