North Carolina RACE TRACK Petition...

http://www.petitiononline.com/hrir/petition.html

Please take a second and sign this online petition. This is in reference to the High Rock International Raceway that several private parties are trying build in Rowan County, NC. This will be a facility similar to VIR. The planning has met some resistance from a small group of people who claim the land has some highly contrived historical value. Please help us get the project back on track (no pun intended) and we will have another premier road course right in our backyards.

I realize this is a national forum, but even those not around the southeast... Take a moment to help fellow motorsports enthusiats out. There is a great track in the works with financing approved. the local city protestors are all thats holding this up.

Thanks for the help!

Signed. I was wondering what the status was with this track. I read about it a couple years ago and was stoked to hear about . Hope this petition helps get it done.

added my signature and comments to the petition. I remember reading about it, at least what I read indicated it was going to be developed as a motorsports country club with residential lots surrounding the course but that it would be available for outside users.

If this happens then all we'd need is a few RX7 owners buying a few lots and they could invite the rest of us out for weekend drives. They'd just have to have a 6-8 bedroom house for overnight accomodations, a large garage with a couple of lifts for maintenance, a dyno for tuning and testing and a refueling paddock so that we could fuel up without having to leave the grounds to get gas. I am all for this track and Weekend Rotary Retreat. :0)

Update

An update for everyone:

All the court battles are (mostly) over, the permits are being issued and most importantly the funding has been secured . So it looks like High Rock Raceway will become a reality. They have begin clearing and grading and think that they will be opening next year (I'm figuring early 2010).

Here is their website:
