Is there any cutting of sheet metal to install this kit?

 

WoW nice job Chuck on the HID's way brighter the RE's stock.......So If I already have the RE's in, besides splicing wires all I would need is your HELLA lights right ?!? Is that $850 or $1000 ?

 

I drive down there regularly. It's no problem. Yes, my rx-7 is my daily driver and it can handle a 450 mile trip. HID really helps when you drive on Highway 5. I forgot to mention the Hella high beam is crazily good as well.

Yes, there is sheet metal cutting to install this kit. You probably can get a way with it if you don't use the Hella 90mm lights and the lexan cover and use the CATZ MSC lights instead. But the CATZ MSC are just not as good.

Do you think I want to go back to the stock headlight after the HID sleek light conversion? =P

I sell the parts separately too so don't worry if you get into an accident or anything happened to your light kit that you need a replacement part. You don't have to buy the whole thing again as long as I have record that you have purchase the whole kit before.

Thanks for the compliment. If you already have the RE Amemiya original light kit, you need to do the following to convert it to my version of the sleek light kit.

1. Modify the RE Amemiya housings
2. Buy the light mounting brackets from me. It's designed to mount the Hella 90mm lights.

The only thing that you will reuse is the lexan cover and the housing mounting brackets.

If you don't want to modify your RE Amemiya housings, you can also buy the housings from me. Email me and I will give you a quote with everything you need to convert your RE Amemiya light kit.

Can you go back to the Stock flip up lights???
with out a problem or not???

I love the way HIDs looks on an Audi and BMW, maybe I should get it for my FD.

 

Chuck, my car is white, and the pix on the site show a black car with the kit installed. If you look through the cover, there is a black band around the edge of the cover. Is that band always black, or could I paint it white like I am assuming I could paint the light tray?

 

The holes to mount the stock lights are still there but the support will be cut. I don't think it will be strong enough to mount back the stock lights. So if you plan to put back on your stock lights, you will have to keep the piece you cut off and weld it back later on. I might design a bracket later on to help you to put back the stock lights so you don't have to do any welding.

The covers are clear at first. The trims are painted afterwards. I can paint it black, silver, and red at this time. The paint I use is a special kind that will bond to Polycarbonate (Lexan). If you use the off the shelf spray paint, the paint is not going to bond to the covers, same thing with the bodyshop paint. If you want the trim to be painted white, I will order the white paint for you and paint the trim white instead of black when you place an order.

Doesn't Tamiya make paint for polycarbonate?

 

I don't know if they do. As long as the paint you use bonds to Polycarbonate, it should be ok.

"replacement H4 connectors from a good automotive parts store. The Napa/Echlin number is LS 6246 and the Calterm number is 08521. You build the harness from scratch and the only connections to the original wiring in the vehicle is the two control leads from pins 86 on the relays to the original Low and High beam circuits. "

Chuck, in the final pix on your site, there seemed to be a gap from the right fender to the back of the lights. I wasnt sure if the angle that the pic was taken exaggerated that, or was it indeed a minor gap? Or was that something with just the preliminary model? Also, is it really that noticeable?

Im not raggin or anything, i was just curious, bc it is a badazz lookin kit :thumbsup:

 

The housings can be moved up and down; left and right. On my car, I mounted the housings all the way against the front bumper so there is no gap between the front bumper and the light housings. All the gap is on the back and it's about 1/4" bigger than normal. On my car, the light beam works the best when it's mounted that way.

BTW, I have a few people complaining about the thickness of the trims on the covers. So now I made the trim thinner on the sides and the bottom but on the top I left it the same thickness as before to cover the more forward-sitted Hella 90mm lights.





I can also leave the covers unpainted so you can paint them yourself. Or if you want some custom trim, please send in your special request with your order. Thanks.
