what kind of clutch kit and flywheel would you guys recommend to me on my fd
its got 80k on it
and i would probably go for decent ones in both price and quality issue

 

Clutches are based on how much torque they can handle. Having said that, what is on your car now and what are the plans for the car?

A good stock based clutch is the ACT Street/Strip clutch.

 

yes all depends on what your horsepower goals are and what kind of driving you will be doing, 1/4 mile etc. good luck

 

now the big specs for my car's
just 2 apexi air filters with 5inch kikimoto exhaust.
motor has about 82k km on it
and i might just keep it reliable running at about 300-350hp.
yea and i heard that ACT street/strip clutch's pretty good.
do u guys recommend me to change the flywheel too..?
btw i just toasted my clutch..
and what kind of flywheel would you guys recoommend me with that ACT clutch?
probably 12lbs aluminum prolite?
and the price range for those clutch kit and flywheel too please...?

It's about $500 for the ACT / SS kit. I've got one for sale if you're interested. Clutch is new in box for $350 with the HD pressure plate with 2000 miles.

yea the flywheel's are pretty expensive too hah..
i'm kinda hesitating between the ACT street/strip clutch and the Exedy stage 1 clutch.
i heard a lot of ppl say that ACT ones are good but not that RELIABLE..
haven't heard of ppl's opinions on Exedy ones yet..

I bought the sprung 6 puck from horsepowerfreaks.com, along with a 9.5 Prolite flywheel, and HD PP... love it, easy to drive, but grabs hard.

My ACT died. Much earlier than I thought it should have. IMO the Exedy is a superior product.

well.. do you guys still think it should be ok to just go with clutch without replacing my flywheel, cuz i'm short of money..
shouldn't cause any harm on my car with stock flywheel.. ha?

 

Makes no sense. How can a clutch package be good but not reliable? IMO, those terms are mutually exclusive.
My experience is just the opposite. Very good clutch for stock or mildly modded.
Whether or not to replace the FW is dependent on the condition. If your short on money and the FW is servicable. leave it or resurface it and spend the money on a new clutch fork, throw-out bearing, rear transmission seal, pilot bearing and good transmission fluid.

 

i heard from few ppl that ACT clutch does not last that long, very stiff, and has to go through a lot of processes on its installation..
don't you guys think exedy clutch's the high performance clutch..

 

Exedy is alright. There, is that what you wanted to hear?
I have no idea what "processes on it's installation" means. Mine installed just like most any other clutch......just like OEM.
Have you searched? I know there's a huge number of threads on this subject. Read and decide for yourself.

 

i have an act clutch with streetlite flywheel and i ahve not had a problem. i know a few guys running act making 500+ hp with no problems. they are good clutches. just my .2 cents

you think it will be risky if i keep my stock flywheel..?
well.. the motor has about 83k km on it, clutch's gone, and gonna replace it soon.
but im' short of money.. so can't afford for my lighter flywheel..
well.. any opinions..
btw im just gonna keep my car reliable, not big modifications or anything.
