update (big pics)
If you hit anything that whole thing is toast along with the front of your car. You have basicly no structual support for any impact. Welding a rod to the sheet metal will do nothing for you. Infact is that not chain link fence poll????
what sheet metel? all there will be is fiber glass and a frame. so why dont you make one that can last being crashed.

You are getting defensive pretty quick here. John is basically just saying the truth, it's not like vehicle manufacturers just throw a bumper on for cosmetic purposes. Most of the aftermarket kits retain the factory bumper, safety is the number one concern...
Alright guys, keep it on topic and no flamming. And openshot dont lash back. report it if you think its a violation. Mods are here for a reason bro.
FWIW I agree with john and the others. Theres no structural support left up front. In a front end collision, your in a world of hurt man. No one is trying to dis you man, just passing along some hard earned wisdom.
And yea you got some serious sanding to do. Good luck with it. I appreciate your effort, drive and hard work.

openshot, man, you're seriously taking your life into your hands for the sake of cosmetics. No matter how cool you make it look when all is said and done, there is a lot more force involved in even a slow collision than you realize.
And unless you have a friend who can "pass" you through the safety, that definitely won't pass. We have more stringent standards than the US does (one of the reasons you have to swap the stock 3rd Gen bumper when you import) because our bumpers have to withstand a 15mph collision while the US ones only have to withstand a 10mph one. That won't do it.
I know you are probably sick of hearing people raining on your project, after you've put probably hours of work into it, but you've gotta sit and take a sec to think rationally about this. Is your life really worth it? Is the rest of your car's front end really worth it (if you hit anything, since your bumper won't absorb any force, it will be transferred to everything behind and around it and you'll end up with mega damage at the least, and damage to yourself at the worst)
I'm going to close this thread, I dont' want any more banter back and forth about it. If you decide to go with it, I wish you the best, but I know that I sure wouldn't do it. It sounds like something a stupid young teenager would do (no offence)
