Got My O2 Sensor Installed

Man does it feel good not to smell all that excess fuel being burnt! Now to just change out all the rear bushings and get rid of that clunk and I shall be set.

So to anyone who has issues with running too rich at idle or getting horrible gas mileage just change the O2 sensor and you'll be a happy man again. I know this is common sense but most people never think about it.

I bought my FD last month...my mpg sucked. Last week i finally get off my *** and clean the air filter, replace spark plugs, replace O2, and replace fuel filter. These parts looked like they had 100k miles on them ahhh. Im getting 300miles+ to a tank now depending on how I drive. It drives like a dream now!!!!!!!

Go ahead and change it. I bought the universal bosch sensor from advance auto parts for like $17.00. It came up in their list after you give them your make and model. Dont buy the $100+ sensor just because it plug and play. You just need to make one splice and you still retain the clip from your old sensor. Just jack the car up, grab a 7/8 open wrench and use some muscle.

I recently changed mine and went from below 10 to 14 mpg.

I only get about 200 miles per tank with city driving.

well 4mpg aint bad. I am usually getting 16-17mph in the city. with a 4mpg extra would be certainly good.

I'm in the middle of trying to change out my o2 sensor, but I don't seem to have enough room to even turn a wrench in there. I've tried from the bottom and from the top with the intake hoses out of the way. I've tried an adjustable wrench, regular wrench, vise-grips, channel locks etc... any tips would be great.

Thanks,
Matt.

You can try taking out the heat shield under the ABS unit to give you more space to work.

Done and done, I found a handy socket that made it a quick job from up top.

Yep that's how I did it. Used an oxygen sensor socket and ratchet and just fit it down between the turbo hoses and all from the top and very carefully used a breaker bar to break the O2 sensor free. Thanks to my DP having the O2 sensor facing towards the hood it made it easy that way. Now to do this on the Camaro thats 124k strong and on the original O2 sensor.
