New owner. advice needed
Hie guys!
just got my FC today!
planning to service it soon cos its 2nd hand and worn out.
What are the essential things that should be taken care of first and all the things I need to take note?

The RX-7 is a medium high performance, medium high maintenance, medium high fuel consumption true sports car.
It's best if you can do most of your own maintenance.
Aftermarket new, used, and performance parts are easily available.
Going to a shop for every little thing will get expensive.
Good experienced rotary mechanics are scarce.
The FAQ has way more information.
The complete factory manuals are available on-line.
As with any car you are new to, take it easy as you get used to the handling.
Few cars have a 50/50 front to rear weight balance and rear steer (called DTSS) like an RX-7.
For example if you try a quick lane change at 65MPH (or 100KPH) without practicing first at lower speeds, the rear steer will be a big surprise.
It's best if you can do most of your own maintenance.

The steering feels a little heavy now. The previous owner said he got the wrong tyres 225/50 and said that i should change it to 215/50. I'm still getting use to the gear shift cos its very close (shifted from 3 to 2 insted of 4 at 130kph ouch!). It also beeps four times in a row and five times in a row while driving. Read the FAQ but not too sure about how to fix it. Nontheless its a very exciting ride. Love the sound of rotary!
start with basic stuff.
air filter
spark plugs
timing
oil change
gear oil change
radiator fluild flush and change.
diff fluid change
bleed brakes and replace brake fluild
these are just a few thing to keep this good and working correctly.
next would be replacing all the vacumme hoses to silicone new ones in engine bay.

DTSS (or rear steer) is a common thing w/ 7s. After the age that most FCs have on them, the DTSS doesnt work properly so you might not even notice you have it or if it malfunctions it can be pretty dangerous. There are DTSS eliminator kits that remedies the associated side effects of a malfunctioning system by eliminating it all together...... Yes, it is very real... RX7s were very advanced cars for their times... For instance, did you know that the first Gen Rx7 was supposedly the first car to be massed produced w/ its type sunroof from any manufacturer?

SOrry to just thread jack but this DTSS still confuses me and search doesnt come up with the right answers. THe DTSS when working properly , helps turn the rear into the turn to give you a better feeling during spirited driving, or its scares the **** outt of you becuase the rear is too responsive?
The DTSS eliminator bushings from RB, remove this feature so the rear DOENST have rear steering and is more PREDICTABLE.

Buy a copy of the Haynes Book and do waht it says. It hasnt let me down since. Very detaild and in conjunction with the FSM found online you can pretty much maintain and work on your car yourself.
Fluids, Plugs, Belts, Hoses, Suspension (should be outdated by now)
Have fun, rotary are like a high maintenance woman, they get on your last nerve but the ride is always great!
