Vert Hardtop. where to find?

Does anyone know where I can find the hardtop version of the convertible to make it look non-vertable haha. Also does anyone know where I can find a TII hood or replica? Thanks.

That looks like just a painted vinyl top.

yeah WTF you guys. that's a normal vinyl top that's been painted, or well something has been put on it that's hard, maybe bondo or some other **** like that, and then painted to match the car.

i mean i admit it looks pretty nice, but.... it's a ******* convertible.... you don't buy a convertible so you can make it a hardtop. you buy a convertible because it's CONVERTIBLE. that's the only advantage (seeing as how the 'verts are heavier than coupe's)

anyways.... just my $.02

Definetly not a hardtop, lol if you look at his page his "future mods" include upgrading his fuel injection system or someshit like that. i wonder if he knows he's allready getting plenty of fuel for an n/a

Obviously this owner never puts the top down, the subwoofer box in the rear of the car would tearup the top if he tried:

I think the "hardtop" is permanent, so he really has a coupe now. It's probably a cloth top that has been fiberglassed over. Notice the "ridges" are still there like the softskin frame is underneath, but now there is no center divide separting the targa/hard top in the front from the flexible vinyl skin in the rear.

I think it looks horrid. If you want a coupe, by a damn coupe!! They're cheaper and easier to find anyway.

If you could "pop off" the hardtop in the summer and raise the soft vinyl top, then it would be a good attempt at a hardtop for the winter.

Maybe if it was more rounded out instead of looking like it was just a shell over a soft top it would be decent.

I think if they just made a hardtop like the miata has a hardtop (required in some racing classes) that would be fine. But IMO... that looks terrible.

Looks like the top was no good anymore so he "hardened" it with paint and whatever else (cheap substitution for a replacement top).

That's one of the worst looking things I have ever seen.

What's with the holes in the rear fender and roof?

He rigged that thing up hardcore! If you want a hardtop shell (like the Miatas), too bad. To my knowledge nobody makes them for the 7. Most likely because the Miata is only offered in the convertible form (there is a coupe model available in Japan), and the Rx-7 is both vert and coupe. If you have such a problem with the convertible look when its closed, drop the top and f#%kin' keep it real.

hate to bump this topic, but has anyone seen one or know who could make one, that'd be sweet for winter, increase the longivity of the softtop too.

The hard top photo earlier in the thread was used by coating the soft top with fiberglass and then painting it. It wouldn't be too difficult to build one.

Guys, Leatherseats.com will make a top out of all kinds of material and colors. Just call em up and ask for what you want. I am sure they can find some tacky vinyl red material to match that picture. Their tops start at $250 for a Rex. I read a lot of good things about their quality and how easy it is to mount......found on the Miata boards

There aren't holes in the fender that is just photo flash distortion associated with a Digital camera.

Do you realize you replied to a post nearly 4 months old? Someone's still a bit bitter...
