I actually haven't even cleaned it yet. Just gave it a quick wash when we got it to the shop and that's it. I have to spend quite a bit of time on the interior. The white vinyl is pretty dirty from sitting. I've done a few test spots though and it cleans up nice. I have to find a good way of getting all of that old crusty undercoat off in the engine bay. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

Damn man! Too nice to modify? What's the plan? Glad you got it, and glad you got it sorted.

The plan is to clean it up, fix what needs fixing, and drive it. I may do some simple bolt on mods like wheels and exhaust. Just stuff that is easily reversed back to stock.

Yes isn't it glorious?! I actually like it with the blue exterior colour. The 2 really go well together. Just keeping it clean will be the issue...

if its the oil wax type undercoating you can use Gunk enginebrite and let it soak then pressure washer, if its the tar type then brake cleaner and a lot of work.
just chiming in... beautiful find love the blue!

For undercoating I found the best method was first mechanical removal.

Get a few different sizes of plastic scrapers, even cut some narrower to get into smaller spaces. Scrape as much of it off as you possibly can.

I then found the best 'degreaser' to be a rag soaked in WD-40, because you have already scraped most off, the rag will make quick work of anything that remains.

This worked very well on my 82 FB that had original oil/wax type spray rust proofing that was applied in 1982.

This stuff is actually hard and crusty now. Not sure that a scraper will take it off without damaging the paint. It almost has to be presoaked with something to soften it back up.

Slowly making progress on the rx4. I have the brakes all together and working. Basically all new hydraulics, rebuilt the master cylinder and calipers. New pads and shoes. I also have some 15" enkie mesh wheels coming for it.

Had the car on the hoist the other day to replace the exhaust hangers and service the rear diff and trans. I took a few pictures of the underside. It's pretty clean for 1974.

It's for the thermal reactor emissions system. Not exactly sure how it works. I need to sit down and study the repair manual to learn about it.

I had some time this weekend to spend on the car finally. I took it out for its first drive saturday morning. Car works good other than a hesitation when in the secondaries on the carb. I'll have to sort that out. I also finally got the seats all cleaned.
